As the title suggests Wahm / business owners what do you do and can you make a living off it?
Exploring the option of starting a business. I want something that we can make a living off not just a labor of love/ hobby.

Okay.. I hate to sound blunt but a million people want to be a WAHM & have a successful business. Here's a few questions you need to ask yourself:

What are you going to do?
    What are you passionate about?
How are you going to stand out from your competitors?
How are you going to promote your business?
    What is your target market?
Who are your competitors/what are they doing/what prices are they offering/what products are they offering?

I have a successful business, but I worked my a$$ off to get it to where it is. We can very comfortably live off it. I have watched many businesses fizzle out because people think it's easy. They see pop up Facebook businesses and think it can't be that hard. Unfortunately I don't think it is enough to just want some extra cash so you don't have to go back to work, you really need a strong business mind, you need to have a clear vision of what you want to do/how you are going to do it.

Since launching my business, at least 5 people I know have tried to do the same, none have shared my success. Not even close. The harsh reality is that running a business is hard work, lots of people have the mentality of 'if she can do it, I can do it'... But that's not the case. I think that you should have a long hard think about it, before you invest your time/money into something. If you aren't 200% on board, you're wasting your time.

Absolutely it is much harder than when the idea pops into your head! I thought it would be easier than working full time, but you are on duty all the time.

Is like having a new born baby all the time. They don't grow up!
My dh and I have a home business. I own it. Run it. Do the books. Promote it. Go to business network nights and meetings.
It's not my love. It's my dhs. But for him to do the job he loves I have to manage everything and him.
Make sure it is really something you want to do every hour of every day. It will be your life.
