Default FTB Part A has dropped a lot, why ?

    Hello,

Nothing with my circumstances have changed.

I logged into centrelink online and see I am due to recieve on Tuesday (my usual pay days)

    Gross $707.42
    Amount I actually get $566.92

    Before it always has been:

    Gross $982.80$
    Amount I actually get $842.30

It is lower then Gross because of deductions.

Now when login I see I am getting $566.92

I have 4 children ages, 17 (In High School) 12 (high School) 9 Primary, 4 at home with me.

    Before was like this:

    Clean Energy Supplement Part A
    $12.88
    Clean Energy Supplement Part B
    $2.52
    Family Tax Benefit Part A
    $658.98
    Family Tax Benefit Part B
    $145.74
    Large Family Supplement
    $23.94
    Rent Assistance
    $138.74
A deduction for repayment of an advance payment
    -$80.50
    Centrepay Deduction for Household Goods
    -$50.00
    Centrepay Deduction for Water
    -$10.00

    Now it looks like this:

    Clean Energy Supplement Part A
    $8.96
    Clean Energy Supplement Part B
    $2.52
    Family Tax Benefit Part A
    $421.96
    Family Tax Benefit Part B
    $144.90
    Large Family Supplement
    $23.94
    Rent Assistance
    $105.14
A deduction for repayment of an advance payment
    -$80.50
    Centrepay Deduction for Household Goods
    -$50.00
    Centrepay Deduction for Water
    -$10.00

Why has my FTB Part A gone down so much and my rent assistance as well, when nothing for me has changed ?

    Any thoughts please ?

Have one of your children just had a birthday?
That's all I can think of.

Did one of your elder kids just have a birthday? I can't be sure but I think payment can go down the older they get.
Best to ring (I know it's a massive pain) and ask. They will have a reason no doubt.

Daughter oldest turned 17 in march this yr, and rates for her are:

16–19 years, secondary student$224.00 still same, as she is still in high school

Cannot call them until Tuesday, as Monday is a holiday
So distressing to see such a HUGE drop in payments from nowhere and no mails to say anything about it either.

You should get a letter about it within a few days. They always send a letter explaining why. I'd call and they'll explain why. Call 1st thing early in the morning or later at night before families line closes.

Yeh it sucks. If they have underpaid you they will pay it back. So often their letters are days behind what happens in your bank. It might show up there's a letter Tuesday.
Timing is pretty awful to call I know. They will be busy this week no doubt.

Yep, hence why I am alarmed, when I saw huge drop in payment and no explanation in why, or any reason I can think of in why as well. As nothing for me has changed. Other then stress and bills :P

The main thing I can think of is if you've updated your annual estimate recently and FTB has been adjusted accordingly? (Though it sounds as if you haven't)

Also, is your 17 year old daughter still correctly recorded as being 'at school' in your online services? As the following changes come into effect on the 1st of May 2014:

Family Tax Benefit Part A will stop for some young people
    Tuesday 1 April 2014

From 1 May 2014, Family Tax Benefit Part A will change. Family Tax Benefit will no longer be paid for young people aged 16–17 who have completed Year 12 or an equivalent qualification.
Family Tax Benefit Part A will be paid for:
    • children aged 0–15
    • young people aged 16–19 who are in full-time secondary study or are exempt from the education or training requirements, up until the end of the calendar year they turn 19
