    Default Recommended cot ... ?

Hi I'm 20 wks mum to be and just started looking around cot.

I saw 'Mother's choice Melrose cot' and I liked it because it converts to toddler bed and this was the only one I've found so far that comes with side rail when used as toddler bed.

But I can't find much review on this cot so if anyone uses this cot can you give me your thoughts please ??

If anyone can recommend any other convertible cot preferably less than $400 or your thoughts whether safety rails are needed on toddler bed, that would also be great !

    Thanks heaps

Personally, I don't think the side rails are necessary but you can get mesh side rails cheap that will attach to any bed.

I have a cot that converts to a toddler bed and I couldn't use it as a toddler bed because a) the side rails weren't high enough and b) a safety rail was too big for the bed. In my opinion it's a good selling point but impractical irl.

If I did it again I would get a good cot with a single handed drop side. I'm a fan of boori but have heard good things about Tasman Eco and King Parrot too.

Not sure what brand my last cot was but it was the one from target. Got it on sale for $150 and came with side rails to convert to a toddler bed. Only used it for 12months with DD4 but was great quality!

We've got one that turns into a toddler bed, but just went straight from the cot to a single bed with a safety rail. Like a pp, I'd also recommend a cot with a drop down rail.

I second the target cot. Had one for my last bub and just got the same one again for the next bub. Great value for money. Had a much dearer cot for my first baby and honestly it was no better than the target one.

we have a Target cot (Childcare brand) that converts and comes with the bed rail kit included - $249. Childcare Sandford it is. Our last cot was childcare brand too. Basic but very good quality

I have a target 'childcare' branded cot. Ive used it for all 3 if my kids, good solid cot that easy to use, simple to assemble and affordable.

The one i have doesnt have a side ra when converted to a toddler bed you just take off the 'drop' side and use as a toddler bed - we did that with DD2 for a few weeks while we were waiting for her bed to be delivered
