    Default What do you think? Shocked or not?

    A friend of mine was telling me a story.

    She was spending the night at a friends place who had her 1yo baby sleeping in his bedroom.
    When it was time for her to leave she realized she missed the last tram to get her to the train station so was a little stuck.
    Well the mum friend offered to take her to the train station and did. 25min ride all up (back and forth).
    Leaving the baby in the house alone.
    She did call her parents to let her know she was driving a friend to the station and that the baby was on his own (in case she had an accident or something?).

    I was so shocked! My friend thought it was great as it showed her other friend were still able to get the right balance. As in her baby didn't take over her life.

    If it had been me I would have offer to pay for a cab, or I would have taken the baby with me. I'm sure I will never ask this friend to babysit lol
    Another friend from the same group didn't understand why we didn't leave our baby home and take the baby phone to the local pub.
    He offered to babysit the other day, I declined

    Anyway I was keen to see if others were as shocked as me or if you thought it was ok?

    That's ridiculous. And I'm pretty sure it's illegal too. What if that poor bub woke up crying; 50 mins is a long time to wait for some comfort. Poor little thing. Besides, isn't that part of having children? Your life changes...

    Never would I dream of doing that! And yes its illegal and highly irresponsible imo. Shocked!

    Wow...
    The furthest I've ever gone whilst my daughter was asleep was to the post box 20m down the road. I couldn't imagine justifying a 25 minute drive to myself.

    Now, there are plenty of things that some parents are comfortable with and some aren't - but to me this doesn't seem like one of those, it seems completely unacceptable.

    I edited the OP to add that it was 25min all up, not 25 min each way.

    Yes I was very shocked and said that it was not on. I didn't mention it was illegal too as she was already looking at me as if I was some sort of crazy over the top mum.
