Thank you so much for all the advice. Ds first start on zantac then on losec tablet cut half dissolve in water dr said that no good because the pink outer of the losec help protect it till it get right into the stomach there it will disperse and inhibit those acid pump in order to stop it pumping out acid. If i cut tablet in half i need to feed ds antacid 30 minutes before giving him losec otherwise the losec granules will be kill by the acid before it get a chance to work. ( something like that) .

Therefore now ds is on suspension. Dr prescribe suspension in the beginning and said there a chemist down in stockland that will turn tablet into liquid form. Well sent dh down to stockland and he come home withtablet. It turn out there is two chemist there hihi.

Anyway fed ds losec suspension last night and this morning. Hope it work so ds is more happy cause aunty and uncle starting to lose patient with bub now

The problem with the suspension is that it's only effective for 2-3 weeks then the strength weakens & the problem starts happening again until the next prescription. We put the tablet in a syringe with water, dissolved and gave it to her. She was on it for about 10 months.

Sorry to but in, I work in a pharmacy that makes Omeprazole suspension. Dissolving the tablet may be time consuming but like Jenga said, it is far more effective. Data suggests that once made into a suspension it may be as little as 10% effective. Speak to your GP/Paed about Nexium granules.

I agree with @Jenga our dd was on this for the same time and helped immensely, suspension or zantac didn't help... mylanta helped for any episodes in between ie: during the night...

Might be worth getting advice from a pharmacist.

How can i tell baby allergy to med. what do i look for?

Btw ds have silent reflux. Currently 7weeks 5kg on 5mg losec twice a day.
Ds only not crying when sleeping. So exhaust. So frustrating. Ds refuse to nurse. Refuse bottle.
Help help i dont know what to do now.
Normal for reflux babies to cry a lot I promise it's not the meds causing it. They will be unsettled before and during a feed easily and sometimes between they don't sleep well either. Losec took my DS almost 3 weeks. In the mean time give mylanta 2mls before and 2mls after a feed up to 4 times a day I promise it's safe my DS is 12 weeks on 5mg loser 3 times a day and 5mls of mylanta 3 times a day he has severe silent reflux the worst my paed has seen so far. He is tube fed now can't bottle feed.

It took 2 weeks for the losec to kick in with my dd. I remember thinking it wasnt working then suddenly she started nursing better. Reflux is always difficult no matter now well the meds work. Its just about figuring out what works for your little one, as different things work for different babies.
