DS birthday is right around father's day and they fell on the same day last year so I made the party for the Saturday as I knew the Sunday would be a family day. I wouldn't go or allow my son to go on a family day like that.

My birthday falls on mothers day this year and ive got to say, it would suck to not be able to celebrate my birthday with fam and friends on my actual bithday day. Id hope that they would be understanding about it, I mean, why shouldn't I be allowed to celebrate it on the actual day just because it coincides with another celebration. Its unfair if you ask me.

I wont be celebrating my birthday cos I dont have fam or friends to celebrate it with (diff states) but id be pretty upset if someone was annoyed or chose not to come to 'celebrate my life' with me just because of mothers day.

I get that peolle feel differently but seriously. Every so many years ive been ignored on my birthday just because it falls on mothers day and apparently mothers day is a more important celebration. After all my birthday does not change dates every year.

I didn't even know when mothers day was.

Really it is just another hallmark holiday like valentines day.

I'm a bit surprised at the pp who say they'd attend but be annoyed. Seriously why attend a child's party if you are annoyed? I'd rather (if I was the host) that you didn't come.

I'd go, it wouldn't bother me at all. Mother's day to me is a day to celebrate being a mum. What better way to do that than to go have some fun at a party with my kids

Yes I get this. My Mum has the same problem with her birthday (another big occasion) but we make sure its a special day for her.

The party I'm invited to isn't the kid's actual birthday, hence why I am surprised they organised it on mother's day.

But can understand why people wouldn't want to turn up. My 2 middle boys birthdays are on the 12th so shared Mother's Day last year and looks like this issue is going to be a reoccurring thing lol.
