No... It's just harder. Nobody is suggesting that caring parents are at fault. I suggested parents who were out of it on drugs should be partially to blame if something happens to their kids. I stand by that. I never said it was the case on this particular situation.

I never said that loving, vigilant parents are not likely to find themselves in a bad situation. I agree that it is very scary how innocent these kinds of people can make themselves seem.
But the pp had posted that with nothing to back it up. Until someone has any evidence to the contrary, statements like this are fuelling untruths. As far as I know children are at equal risk of random abduction regardless of socioeconomic status.

As for children abused by someone they know - they are picked by the person that knows them because they are known to them, nothing to do with whether their parents care or are out of it

Of course not. However vigilance does play a large role and like it or not predators generally prey on
More vulnerable targets. I've seen many stories on TV about priests etc that have targeted single mums because they are more vulnerable. Heck even dr Phil says kids who have a non bio parent living with them are 20 times more likely to be abused. Anyway back to the priest story. The parents would let their kids go away for weekends alone with the priests. No way in hell I will let my kid have a sleepover at a friends let alone go away alone with a male adult. Yeah I am perhaps over cautious and no this doesn't mean my kids will be protected 100% but yes I do think my kids are more protected than kids whose parents let them have sleepovers and weekends away with adult men.

Has it been reported (in any trustworthy media) ..what became of the security footage obtained from the neighbour? It was mentioned that it showed two men following one girl, didn't it? ...but all the reports since then say that this offender acted alone.

I don't think that was them. (Different girl).

Why don't people ever put the blame on where it lies? With the person that broke in to a house in the middle of the night and stole a child for sexual gratification.

If it was a story about the girl ingesting drugs that were lying around, then blame the drug addict parents. But this story can happen to any one of you, and to think otherwise is an extremely dangerous thing to do.

I judged the parents and I was wrong. I feel terrible and I'm sorry. Poor Chloe. I hope nothing happened.
