Why is my gut now telling me this was organised by the father.. like... did he hand her over to the drug dealing family as a sort of 'deposit' while he scrambled for the cash? I dunno if i am now misreading it... but this is getting more and more dodgy on the parents behalf the more info that's released. I hope im just tired and pregnant brain and reading it wrong so far.

Yep, I don't know what to think after reading that it's been confirmed that her father was seen on the street just before she disappeared.

Drug addiction is a cruel thing. It's hard for someone suffering addiction to acknowledge that they're not in a good situation. I would say that, given what we know, it's unlikely this family were known to FaCS (or the qld equivalent) or at least not to the extent they probably should have. It's unfair to say they don't deserve to be parents when you don't know if anyone has even reached out and tried to help them, they deserve support!
They are not to blame for Chloe's abduction, that blame solely lies with the perpetrator/s.

I'm going to take a guess and say that is a DHPW house. It's not surprising to see one looking like that. Hopefully they will be placed into a big enough house for the family in a safer place but department houses aren't always available to cater for larger families. Which is why I don't understand the emphasis on Chloe sleeping in a lounge room so the family must be dodgy. Maybe they were on a waiting list for a bigger house? Department housing lists are years long. They had a roof over their heads and made do with what little space they had.

I hope Garth gets help for his addiction and the system doesn't fail this family.

A friend of mine said this exact same statement. She thinks he was trying to get some $$ out of a story. I'm starting to sort of agree....it doesn't add up at all.

    This!

I know a family who's 18 month old didn't have a bedroom. Both were full time working parents (one was a colleague).

Many years ago when DF and I decided to move in together I was talking to a women who was camping next to us telling her it was hard to find a suitable 2 bedroomed place in inner-city. She asked why we needed 2 bedroomed and I explained because of DF's DD who stayed with us every other weekend. She said "why can't she just sleep on the couch?".

How about everyone just lets the professionals decide what's best in this situation, since they are the ones who will be examining this case and who will be able to make the best decisions regarding this situation! Pretty sure they know better than any of us how to deal with this case!

I'm not defending their actions at all. But wanted to say for a few years I didn't have a bedroom as a child either. My older brother did and my mum and I had a screened off part of the loungeroom. It wasnt great but my mum did her best for us and really struggled on her own even working. She wasnt on drugs either granted. Not having a bedroom isn't ideal but I'm certainly glad docs didnt take me away from my family and give me over to strangers because of it :/
