    Default Play mats?

We have timber floors so I'm looking at getting the foam type play mats, maybe alphabet ones.

Which play mats have you found good? Where did you get yours from?

Are there any problems with the cheap ones? Do they break into bits or anything?

    Do I need thicker ones?

You can buy foam mats in one piece like ^ in one piece that are a bit thicker than the puzzle type ones. Pay no attention to the price of that one, I just posted the first link for one I could find.

I have the alphabet ones from kmart and they haven't broken at all despite DS biting, pulling and chewing on them. I've also got the ones that have roads on them from kmart and the print has faded a bit but they are good as well. I think both are $15 a packet?

We have a bubba mat. I love it. It's big, thick, easy to clean and safe.

I got a fisher price jungle friends one from target and would not recommend. After about a month the edges started coming away on the print and my DD started picking at it and trying to eat the little pieces that came off. I'd get one that is just foam and no print on top.

We've got the KMart roads one and another foam mat we bought from Clark Rubber. Can't recall prices, but both were really cheap and are in fantastic condition 3 years on.

No advice on the mats...just to say that we have timber floors and DD plays on them without any issues. When she was really little we put rugs etc. down for her to lay on.

Obviously get what works for you, just wanted to point out that it's not a necessity

    Agreed

We brought a big mat reasonable cheap from rugs a million. We had the foam mats with DS1 and they got so dirty and dust etc gets caught up in between them, found it so frustrating.

I have timber floors. We bought a bubba mat. Expensive but well worth it. Still looks new after a year. I have toys on it and this play pen. But now she crawls all over the place. But the mat is great. Easy to clean etc. And soft.
