    I would be putting a lock on right now because the next time someone knocks on your door it could be the police saying your children are dead. Sorry for the bluntness but you have been extraordinarily lucky so far. I feel so sorry for that truck driver, what a horrible fright they mustve gotten.

    Lol. Wasn't frightened off just been extremely busy, although some of these posts are pretty full on.

    Lock has now been installed. Poor dad was just as frightened as I was.

    Smacking is not something that I subscribe too but pardon me if I was a little hysterical and flew off the racket for a few secs after said event occurred. Kids didn't even flinch so I doubt very much if they minded - not that that is the point but just wanted to set some minds at ease in case people think that this was a regular occurrence.

    Lastly my kids to hold my hands crossing roads and so forth. I think the event was, unfortunately childhood curiosity which could have ended very badly. But just wanted to state that we do teach our kids road safety.

    Thanks for all the replies, will definitely think about the 'adult' perspective rather than just assuming the kids understand.
