    Rice cakes are also a great finger food at that age - just cut the big ones in half and they gum off little pieces - avocado, cottage cheese, almond butter, macadamia nut butter or peanut butter ( make sure its 100% peanuts ) are I think the best ( and most nutrient packed) toppings for toast or rice cakes

    Dd loves toast fingers. She is 6mths. She tends to make a big mess and licks it all till it's soggy and like glue. But it's fun for her.
    I just watch carefully to make sure sure she isn't getting stuck on any lumps as sometimes she bites off a big chunk of bread. When it's been sucked on it tends to get a bit sticky and hard to swallow.

    I offer lots of water during these meals too.
