Prime Minister Tony Abbott is poised to break a key election promise by cutting funding to the ABC, with the question now being how much money should be cut.

In a pledge his colleagues are now wishing he never made, Mr Abbott said on the night before the 2013 election: “No cuts to education, no cuts to health, no change to pensions, no change to the GST and no cuts to the ABC or SBS.”
Interestingly there doesn't seem to be any report of this on the ABC website.

Should the first Budget break any of these promises:

“No cuts to education, no cuts to health, no change to pensions, no change to the GST and no cuts to the ABC or SBS.”

... the Labor Party would be well within its rights to do to Abbott exactly what the Libs did to Gillard over the carbon "tax".

Greens primary vote up to 17% in the polls, highest in history. And LNP are trailing Labor by 4 points. Who was it that was going on about how happy most Australian's are that Abbott is in? Ha!

It's not ok for Labor to not do a CBA but it's OK for the LNP to not do one.

What grinds me the most is they assume the public will just accept their bullsh*t, they assume we're stupid.

In the interests of fairness, Turnbull has today replied to this criticism, pointing out he will take account of the CBA when it is completed.

It did put a bit of a downer on Abbott's announcement of a $3 billion road to a non-existent airport.

For those interested, a petition to stop funding cuts to the abc- you know, as promised.
