    I do wish kids had more freedom these days. I worry for the ones going up these days.

    However, I hand out chores for bored people too.

    I only partly agree. At what age can you really expect a child to entertain themselves? What if they keep asking you to play with them do you just say no? What if you only have one child and they don't like to socialize with other kids?
    When dd was little and the only child I spent lots of time with her reading, singing songs, crafts . After ds came along I just didn't have as much time or energy. Dd asked me why I don't play with her anymore
    These days dd and ds play together better but they definitely want me to join in.
    I do agree that you don't need to have kids in too many activities and yes sometimes you do have to let them be bored and use their imagination.
    Needs to be a balance and in response to the personality of the child.

    I think it is definitely about finding that balance. Different personalities require different amounts and types of personal attention in order to feel emotionally secure and loved. It's about finding out your child's mode of interaction and giving them a balance between family time and solitary play. Both are important for healthy development.

    I agree with balance. I didnt take the article as ignore my child but find a balance.
