    Default Teacher Appreciation

In light of the "other" thread - I just want to let all the teachers know how much I appreciate them.

My daughter has just been diagnosed with Aspergers. She's in year one. Her teacher recently spent her weekend making visual aids to help my daughter transition from lesson to lesson to reduce her stress. She gives up part of her lunch hour to complete an OT therapy on my daughter every day. She has allowed OT and psychologists in to observe my daughter and has implemented every change recommended. I am truly grateful.

Let us know if you have had a great experience with a teacher!

    Excellent idea!

DS's current teacher is amazing. She knows exactly how to keep DS focused and challenged and brings out the best in him. Some of the things she was saying while we were chatting recently had me double checking she hadn't confused him with someone else!

I adore my DDs teacher! She is so enthusiastic and you can tell she loves her job and the kids. She really goes above and beyond. She also knows how to deal with parents like me who worry about every aspect of my daughters learning haha which is a job in itself.

My brother is also a teacher and while I've never seen him teach, I know he's amazing. The way he talks about the kids and how involved he is blows me away. I also know because of him that teaching isn't a "8-4 with 13 weeks holiday a year" job. The effort that goes in is crazy.

    Fantastic idea OP.

My son has a kinder teacher just as good as yours OP.

My son was diagnosed with Autism last year. She has been my son's teacher even before his diagnosis, as she was promoted to kinder teacher. So DS1 has been with her for 2 and a half years.
She has been wonderful trying to establish DS1's routine to make Kinder a much more stress free place for him to go.
Because of her he has really taken part in a lot of social activity, she has established a lot of visual aids, activities, and creative fun for him to enjoy.
It's been a hard few years for us, and has been there every step of the way, wanting to know how she can help. Really we would be lost with out her.
Because of her influence, DS1 has embraced the idea of having friends, and has been invited to his first birthday party, which he will be attending this weekend.
She has shown a lot of interest in ways to make her program better. Has even taken time from work to attend DS1's Early Intervention program to observe their centre and his therapy group.
I honestly look forward to the days DS1 goes to Kinder, because he always has new words, songs and sometimes skills.
I really wish I knew how to thank her for taking an active interest in our Ds1's life. I can't wait til DS2 joins her class.

Put it in writing and a bunch of flowers. I gave some to DD teacher the other day and just said how much I appreciated what she was doing. Poor lady burst in to tears. Guess our great teachers dont get appreciated enough!

    Such beautiful stories!

Good idea for a thread RL.

I appreciate my children's teachers because they love and care for my children. For that alone, I am extremely grateful.

(Of course, they do a lot more than that too lol.)

You're so right though, that in itself means the world!

Every morning we get to school DD rushes to say hello and you can tell her teacher is genuinely so happy to see her, the fact she cares about my daughter makes me love her.

I have nothing but appreciation for teachers. I think they are amazing. I think it'd be a really difficult job abd they deserve much more recognition for what they do.
