Ps... I fixed the spelling in your thread title. The teacher inside of me can't let it go. You're welcome.
@Kimberlygal1 I think you're fighting a lost cause here.. there are LOTS of teachers or family of teachers on BH who won't take your opinion too kindly.. and I'm one of them. Can't say I get paid too much when I've been in the profession for 10 years, and all of my friends, none of whom finished university are all getting paid more than I am. I have two degrees for what?

Exactly Nomsie. I have a social work degree and am half way through a primary ed. I'm starting to question my sanity on choosing 2 professions where not only the pay is not equivalent to the work load, training and stress, but where society constantly beats us down.
I am a big fan of teachers and I support pay rises and certainly believe they have legitimate reasons to be unhappy regarding all of the issues that have been raised.
However I am not a big fan of strikes (unless for safety reasons like mine workers refusing to work in an unsafe mine)
Im not quite sure why they rub me the wrong way - mostly to do with the QANTAS strikes 18 months ago. I just dont agree with them personally.
OP you have every right to be put out by the schools incorrect info and your daughters disappointment but I think over simplifying teachers obviously struck a nerve...I hope your daughter gets her news day tomorrow....
At the end of the day, if you think teaching is such a bludge with such good money...then hop on back to uni and do your 4 year degree and go and become one.
[QUOTE=delirium;7719911] Honestly I'm over under-qualified people falling into jobs and getting paid huge amounts while qualified, hard working people are told "they are paid enough". What can you do right?
And what is this sudden fascination with people feeling the need to comment on things they know nothing about? I Just don't get it..or am I missing something?
Also, I know heaps and heaps of miners - I seriously do, not just making it up to try and get my point across. And they don't seem to be particularly bright or clever, they are nice guys in it for the money - and they get paid ludicrous amounts, seriously would freak you out. A friend's hubby has just been offered 250,000 per year, and he is qualified at what he does, but it is nothing compared with a uni degree, and it doesn't help anyone - his job doesn't save peoples lives or educate our children. There is a massive imbalance in the Western world. We don't value really important jobs at all - as evident by this thread.
