@blossom1 surprisingly the waiting hasn't been too bad! Prob coz so far from my last cycle, it's been a busy season: Easter break, my birthday, work really hectic, relo's down from overseas etc. So I've had a few extra things to keep myself preoccupied with. And not cycling means I got to enjoy a few glasses of wine with all those occasions!

I know what you mean about "apparently" excellent embies - we transferred 2x "perfect" blasts last round which still resulted in BFN.
How many frosties do you have left hun? And what were the reasons those people gave against multiple pregnancies? The thought of twins is a bit daunting, but like you said, 2 is better than none! I've grown to quite like the thought of twins
What are your DH's thoughts about it? xx

@nightchild80 that's great to know! Your clinic really sound as tho they know what they're doing! My FS on the otherhand had me on 300iu of Gonal F, 'overlooked' monitoring for signs of OHSS & ended with me in hosp for 5 days! So good that you are in capable hands hun xx

Mmm, it's amazing hey, i personally think they ought to stop grading or telling us about quality of embryos, it does your head in and creates a false expectation in a way...but on the other hand i would want to know if they are "bad quality" ...oi the roller coaster. Dh doesn't mind twins. He is more worried about my health with it. Do you think it would be easy to bond with two bubs? That is probably my biggest concern of twins. I guess with one you just focus on him or her. I guess i don't want to get all romantic about it knowing others have regretted it. They regretted it only in the level of exhaustion and difficulties in carrying them to term.
but, i tend to worry about strange things lol , im already worried about pnd and bonding when i cant even get pregnant! I guess i don't have many great examples of friends who found even mothering 1 a manageable time...most were off the show with one and barely coped. I blame it on my scotish pragmatic roots. Wanting best for all family members. 🙏

As for figuring out how many to transfer, it really depends on what you're comfortable with and which risks you wanna weigh up (eg. multiple pregnancy, financial costs, etc). In our case, we transfer 1 embryo. After 2 cervical cone biopsies, I run a higher risk of a shortened cervix and not being able to carry to term, especially with a multiple pregnancy. But that might not be a factor for you.

@KayzB: Same here, but apparently Synarel serves to stimulate the pituitary to produce a surge of LH, resulting in timed ovulation. It is high enough to induce ovulation in larger follicles, but too short-lived to stimulate small follicles - thus preventing/worsening OHSS. The things you learn!

And good luck with the wait! 4 weeks will fly by before you know it.
I would never have guessed that synarel was used for that purpose either!

I had read that transferring more than one embryo increases your chances of multiples but doesn't actually increase your chances of pregnancy. However Dr Google has told me many things and I guess it depends on how good the technicians are at spotting the best embryo and their freezing techniques. As I am at risk of OHSS my FS has pretty much point blank refused to transfer more than one.

hi bongley, according to latest ivf findings (sciency journals that i peruse) you are actually right. I guess it's also why i am not sure. Seems like it would increase chances so its strange, but i guess the science is the science.

@blossom1 It does seem counter intuitive doesn't it? It must mean that they really are able to choose the best embryo to put back and so putting back more than one is only increasing the chance of multiples.

that's funny, my brain wasn't computing how it works but you just made it crystal clear to me with why multiples and yet not pregnancy! Thanks! Hehehe

@KayzB don't mind the synarel, sometimes just a little awkward taking it lol I do 8am/pm so if I'm out to dinner I just have to pop to the bathroom or sometimes in the car on the way to work. Haven't done my injection yet waiting for DF to come home from work but that could be as late as 2am (he does afternoon/night shift) maybe he can do it when I'm asleep lol. Do you do your injections yourself?
