    Default Nipple thrush remedies?

Ladies, what's your best home remedy recommendation for suspected nipple thrush? I need something to keep me going until my doctor appointment this Friday. The burny-itchiness is starting to make me dread feeding again...

Can you get to a chemist ? Otherwise you and bub will be sharing back and forth . Good old nilstat drops will help .

My doctor told me to buy 8 x Difflucan tablets and take 2 a day and use the nilstat on the bub while using nipple shields until all is cleared up. Some chemists won't sell you more than 3 tablets at a time so I had to go to a couple of different pharmacies

Thought I would be brave/dumb? And wait it out until Friday. It's my 6 week post natal checkup, have to pay a double fee so thought I would get everything done at once..

Bad idea?... I've never had nipple thrush before...

I'd would use hydrozole or canesten (might have some in the cupboard!), just wash nipples prior to feeding.

Hydrozole has the same anti fungal as canesten (clotrimozole) as well as a corticosteroid to reduce itch etc.

I would imagine, provided you washed nipples well, transfer to bm and baby would be much less than taking flucanozole (diflucan) which works systemically. Not sure if you can use that while bf'ing, but definitely not allowed while pregnant.

There's nothing that your doctor can prescribe you though. The treatment is over the counter meds - nilstat for bub and anti fungal for you.

You can use nilstat on bub, it's what they use for oral thrush...and tbh bub will probably need treating anyway (white tongue?) but you might need something a bit stronger for yourself.
