No one thinks vaxes are risk free. But the risk is tiny in comparision to the risk of WC, measles etc.

I also agree that anti vaxxers are more than happy to call us sheep and go on with the wild pharma conspiracies while wearing their tin foil hats but are more than happy to enjoy the protection vaxxers give them.... which seems to me kind of hypocritical?

    That attitude disgust me.

The herd immunity is there to protect people that can't be immunitised for health reasons.

I understand people that want to delay vaxes or are against altogether but to just go along for the free ride goes beyond any sort of reason. It makes me sick.

It's because they don't care if the rest of us "poison" our children for the benefit of theirs ;-)

I know, I want to ask anti vaxxers " do they want everybody to stop? Are all vaccines bad and they should be banned"? Then it's just up to nature to take its course? Or is it ok for my child to take the risk and vaccinate so you " can make the educated decision for your family" to not vaccinate?

This is what makes me angry. So you won't put your child "at risk" (which we all know, is very small for a healthy child) yet are happy for others to do so, so your child benefits? Pffft.

Anti vaxxers who say they'll accept the "free ride" make me think, you must admit the benefits to vaccines to say such a thing?

This topic scares me - I'm due to have a baby in August and the two kids nextdoor aren't vaccinated... I worry about them wanting to visit and hold my newborn. Might be an irrational pregnant-brain over worrying but it bothers me.

Yes, these exactly. hypocritical bc a) they are more than happy for other children to have this 'dangerous' stuff to protect their child and b) the fact they acknowledge herd immunity even exists is a paradox to their stance.

It confuses the hell out of me

If people actually knew what it was like to live in places where access to vaccines wasn't available, they'd know the devastating effect of it, they'd be watching their children and loved ones dying.

Actually we're pretty good in Australia with amongst the highest vac rates in the world (over 90% I believe?), but look at say, America where they have seen a trend toward non-vac? They are already seeing very worrying repercussions from that..... http://www.healthline.com/health-new...tbreaks-120312

I need to find a way to explain this to their mum, who is a nice woman, we are friendly with the neighbours despite me not agreeing with a few of their hippy ways.

Plus they'll me just returning from a long overseas trip when my baby is born..so I'm worried they'll catch germs on the plane and give them to my baby.
