Esperanza you don't chuck if there's blood, you just change spots. I was supposed to switch to crinone but had that big bleed so didn't want to aggravate things further so sourced some more gestone, I'll be on that until 10 weeks.

Either or, probably easier through your FS if they are assisting as they understand the need for multiple betas and early scans

We were really lucky with our FS, she actually suggested CFC to us early on because she knows Dr LR professionally. We just paid for the consult and she was happy to organise all the scripts and tests.

GirlFromSydney - We had the same signature issue! Drove me and the DW up the wall for a good half hour. you need 5 posts apparently for it to be enabled, you should have it now judging by your post count.

Helonweels, wish I found this thread before i went to see my new FS at Bondi! I paid them to manage my cycle $1800. before i was with Genea and IVF Australia. It just seemed so unrealistic to manage your cycle from overseas, but reading everyone's posts i can see that it can be done! and yes i probably need extra more possts before i can PM enyone.
I see how i go without clexane and prednisolone this time. I did have a pragnancy without them (by had a MC) and had another one with them (MC as well).
When i was on prednisolone i was not myself. One of the side effects i was having was suicidal thoughts and I am very positive and optimistic person (well, this is how i see myself hahaha)

Hi, I am also with the same FS as you. Not heading over till July. Good luck with your trip! Hope everything works out well for you

I'm lucky that FS agreed to help me, but I didn't have appointments with her, I just rang her office and asked for advice when I had my bleed and she would pass on advice. She did my referrals for scans etc. But my GP did all my scripts etc. Before I left.

Yes I am happy that I do have it all managed by a FS here, as I think it just makes me feel more comfortable so there are no mistakes and I am being guided through it all. Also for all the scripts and tests etc, it was just nice for them to have all my records and most of the tests had already been done. Also good point Emski about when you return to Aus.

    Hi ladies,
I didn't mean to imply that you should bypass using an FS by any means..

I just wanted to point out that some out there (not all) are unscrupulous and can possibly take advantage of our vulnerability by charging a large amount of money for what is essentially writing a few referrals and scripts..

I'd already been through 4 cycles with my clinic here.. (So they already had received the better part of $20k from me) And at the suggestion of my FS, looked into the ED process. He then said he would charge me $1000 for the privilege of managing it. When I asked what was involved with 'management'... His involvement would be minimal. Cheeky!

I started my research and it was this forum that gave me the confidence, courage - and knowledge, to approach my GP and obs to see what they could do for me viz their involvement/monitoring/etc. I asked lots, and lots, and lots (and lots) of questions to see if I could work through the majority of stuff without my FS.. In my case (and it can't be for everyone) I had the support from other medics so I didn't need it.
At the end of the day... If you go into your gps office and request a blood test for HCG and beta levels, or want to have yourself scanned as early as 4-5 weeks (should you have a BFP), they are obliged to write you a referral to get seen.... It's setting your mind at ease...
    Just wanted to clarify...

    Congrats on being PUPO Esperanza!

Jodiw, hope you've arrived not too jet lagged and all crossed for you.

Girlfromsydney, helenonwheels and cloggy, not long now and I will not be to far behind you. Will keep an eye on updates to see who is still there when we arrive on the 17th.

Agree, asking a management fee for support and a few prescriptions is really cheeky especially after what we have dished out to them and been through . Thankfully, My Dr at bondi ivf Australia saw me when I was home and wrote my prescriptions for free, didn't even pay the consult fee and I've emailed him my protocol to check out re opinion on NKC stuff. He's also put me in contact with and FS and hospital here in singapore who have also been amazing and helping out with extra prescription/drugs and will do my lining check for me before I leave and then follow up afterwards with betas etc. I just pay for the drugs and consult fee when I see the specialist herself. It is stressful enough and hope your GP's are a little more helpful.

Who was asking about timings (sorry,) we only got our plan 3 weeks out from leaving and just booked everything. Flights did seem a little pricier than when I was looking in January but guess this is normal and seems to be plenty of accomm options around.

Oh. Damn. I threw the whole thing away as I thought that's what Cyndi told me to do. Does your FS do your PIO scripts for you?

biba - I'm not sure about Johannesburg, but I've heard it's a lot different from Cape Town. I'm sure if you can find a nice hotel that you're happy to stay there at night etc it shouldn't be a problem. But that was the reason we chose Cape Town. We knew it would be safer than joburg. I just wouldn't be able to relax myself, but that's just me. How is the visa going?
