Query for those who have had success with the SA protocol... I switched from Gestone to 2x crinone for the first time yesterday (alternate days) and noticed some light spotting this afternoon. Did anyone else have this happen?

Emski - bleeding on crinone is really common as it irritates the cervix. Pixel will no doubt fill you in on that one.in more detail!

I stuck with the gestone because it ended up being the easy option for.me - no mess and no lying around for periods of time for it.to be absorbed. Was the gestone upsetting you or are you just using up your existing stocks of crinone?

Thanks Rainbow, I've had no problem with the gestone aside from the sore bum! But my treatment plan from CFC has me alternating days between gestone and 2 x Crinone from 6 weeks (which was yesterday) for two weeks and then onto crinone full time until 10 weeks. I'd been fine until I switched to the crinone.
I'm hoping it's j ust the crinone irritating my cervix... I have a slightly out of date hcg/progesterone referral slip from my GP here so am thinking if I still have any light bleeding tomorrow I'll duck in and get my levels checked. I really didn't want to have to endure another beta but my 7 week scan isn't until next Tuesday.

Esperanza - Hope you had a good flight. We too left home at a crazy hour to get to Brissy airport for our flight to Sydney.

As as for phone, you can always use your own phone and purchase a Sth African SIM card. We purchased a prepaid sim through Vodacom and just recharged it as required. They will just ask you for ID.

Emski - Sorry to read about the bleeding, I was on Crinone, progesterone Pessaries and daily Gestone (as per my Aus specialist protocol). RB is spot on, the Crinone is known to irritate, you could always contact CFC and ask if you could substitute with progesterone Pessaries, which are less irritating, however, you will have to lie down for 30 mins if inserted vaginally. You don't have to lie down if inserted anally. Sorry if TMI.

Hello ladies from beautiful Cape Town. Well, that flight is brutal haha. We were like zombies when we finally touched down in Cape Town. All I can say is I'm glad we pre arranged airport pick up with the hotel.

we got pounced on when we were in the Johannesburg airport with people wanting to show us around. One guy asked for $50 aus as a tip. Not bad huh haha. The hotel is beautiful, I highly recommend it and it's a 15min from v and a and long street. Had a lovely day just walking around the city and the waterfront and have felt very safe so far. Only had one guy ask for money so far and that was waking to the city.

We have our first scan appt tomorrow so we are excited to get the ball rolling. Can anyone that's already been roll through with the procedures for me? We have no idea what to expect as never done IVF or anything and Id like to have an idea before we go.

    Hi everyone
Apologies for not keeping up with the thread. I'll try and read back over the next few days.
My beautiful son Henry was born at 38 weeks on 15 April by c-section. I'm so in love it's difficult to find the words to describe it. I'm very sleep deprived which has been tough being single and not being able to share the settling during the night, but I could still spend all day watching his face and the different expressions he does.
I wish little miracles for everyone on this thread. You have been such wonderful comfort to me and I hope my success gives others hope. I know the trauma of loss losing my little girl to Trisomy 18 at 15 weeks in 2012 and the anxiety about trying again. Stay strong everyone and keep your eyes on the goal. The rewards are immense :-)
Much love and baby dust to all
    Wishmeluck and Henry

Hi Esperanza, glad to hear you arrived safely.
You'll have a quick internal ultrasound today, then when your donor has her eggs collected in a couple of days (you'll drop off the sperm sample then) they will call you to let you know how many eggs were retrieved and if you're likely to be looking at a day 3 or day 5 transfer. You then go back in on day 3 or 5 for transfer, which is very similar to a pap smear. Bob's your uncle!
