Brv, I want that grass. I just love the feeling of grass under foot. And I love watching babies, kittens and puppies get used to the feeling.

Ds is 15mths and started walking at 11mths. It is really good for them to learn to walk bare foot. I only recently bought him a pair of soft pre walkers because it is getting cooler and I want him used to shoes by winter. I won't let either kids walk out bare foot through the colder months. Only because it's damn cold and wet and yuck!
I will insist my kids wear shoes while out.
I wear socks full time at home even on the 45deg days. I'm just a bit precious and don't like having dirty feet.

I honestly think it is better for the development of their feet if they can go barefoot a bit. DD barely wears shoes and even when she has to later she wont wear them in our yard.

Actually that's not entirely true. Walking in bare feet plus some time in shoes is good. Shoes can help with posture/rotation in the feet etc.
A bit of both is good.

Anyway MIL keeps insisting that she has to wear shoes or she'll get bitten by ants. Fair enough, I worry about that too but I'm always supervising and if I notice ants I just move her away. What do you think?
My DD is 16mths and I like her to wear shoes outside at home only because we're in WA and our red pavers are so hot.
