When I did my masters in teaching, I did a lot of study on gifted children, which included working with them. If you do have a gifted child, you truly will have an enriched parenting experience - believe me! They can have some fantastic conversations

I just wanted to mention, just because you have a child who does very well academically, doesn't mean they are gifted. While gifted kids can pick up language faster than others, they aren't always "smarter" or A+ students. Some can actually can do quite poorly in IQ tests. The truly gifted kids are the kids who are always thinking outside the square, asking unique questions, coming up with analogies to describe things etc.

Have a look at this government website for some ideas & information: http://www.education.vic.gov.au/chil...dchildren.aspx

This is DD she is always thinking and some of the questions and conversations that come from her are astounding. She can sit with a table of adults and keep up with whatever is being talked about and if there is something we are trying to figure out she can usually come up with a solution that is something we would never have considered.

Totally true. Its a blessing and a curse all in one. It's mentally and emotionally draining for the parents and the kids. It's totally not all about good grades at school and all about a little person who just doesnt see the world like the rest of mere mortals do.
