Hi Monnie, I have just moved back to Maslins Beach from Canberra. A dear old friend of mine, who had a 11 week old has suggested a great female doctor in Reynella. Her name is Isobel Botha 8321 9099. I don't know what medical centre she works from but I trust my friend not to give dodgy recommendations iykwim.

Sorry I don't know anyone in that area, but great that there has been a recommendation above.

If it becomes fruitless, go back to your GP and ask to go on a mental health plan. Then get a referral to a psychiatrist in your area who specialises in PND. They can start you in meds if needed, or start counselling.
Or contact your local CAFS and ask their opinion on who is a good GP/ psych to see in your area for this.

Your GP is living in a dream world saying it is only hormones FFS

Alternatively you can go to flinders ED and tell them you are not being taken seriously and need some help.

I got into a great shrink as I like to call them haha!! Probably bad term (a friend from dig referred me) I was on waiting list for ages! Shes diagnosed me with a list of things. She said depression is more likely hugo and not really pnd. She is spending 6 sessions gettimg to know me & history then will work on strategies & fixing!

She suggested meds for short term so sitting in gp rooms with a letter, up yours gp. My brain is not functioning at all.

I have heart specialist apps for dd, hugos apps and im so drained people are telling me she wont remember her birthday dont do it. Oh F off. Have a bit of happiness.

I agree hun. Have a bit of happiness.
She may not remember but you will and it will lift your heart to have a fun day with everyone.
I wish I had done birthdays with ds1 from the start instead of just a cake an adult dinner.
Be good to yourself and don't think you have to do it all. Get family or friends to help. Spend time with your DD making her cake even.

Oh man, how about those people suggesting you don't celebrate her 1st birthday step up and organise something so you don't have to. A first birthday is special in my family, and she might not remember it but you bet she will one day ask if there is photos or what you did. I also agree that it will be nice for you to celebrate it too. You sound like you've had a tough first year of being a mummy with a dd with her own specialist appts as well.

I'm really glad you've found someone who is listening to you. Good luck with the meds.

Definitely have a party for dd. It doesn't have to be a big thing but yes celebrate and be happy when you can. It's been a hard year for you but you survived. Definitely worth celebrating

Im glad youve been given a referral for some meds. What a crappy gp for shrugging it off as hormones given everything youve been through. Hopefully things start to turn around for you soon. I love the idea another hubber suggested of going to the park and relaxing. I have pnd and while it sounds simple, it works for me. I always find it puts both myself and dd in a better mood. Going before nap time is even better because by the time we get home shes exhausted and we both get some sleep.

Definitely dont ignore DDs birthday. After everything thats happen you all deserve a bit of a party. Esepcially DD. You dont want her feeling ignored

You have a paed? Do you have a health care card?
My DD had a cranial ultrasound, the paed wrote the referral, your gp could write it too, I booked it in. It was free privately because I had a health care card for her. You should be able to get it done that way.
