Monnie I am certainly no mental health expert but I could see how you could have PTSD after the last week or so. Adjusting to a 2nd baby can be very tough in the most perfect environment - what you've gone through is unimaginable. Can your mum come and stay with you and help out? If it were me I'd be seeing my GP regularly to get as much support as possible.

Hospitals are amazing places for fixing and curing our kids but very little is offered in terms of post discharge support. Please don't hesitate to ask for help. Take care of yourself xx

Monnie my little boy (newborn) wasn't sick like Hugo so it's not the same... However in some small way I know where you are coming from. I feel guilty about not spending as much time with my toddler (ds1). The first few weeks with cr@p sleep were soooo hard. I try to get through by focusing on the fact that sleep should improve soon.. And it won't be long before ds1 can get more of my attention. I try to schedule at least 15 minutes of quality one on one time with ds1 every day. It's not that much but it makes me feel closer to ds1 again. And I hope he gets something out if it too.

As PP's have said don't feel bade about reaching out to your GP for help

    Xxx

I have a 9 week old and 3 year old. Your a strong women after going through everything with little Hugo I could not have done it. I find it hard enough have a newborn that doesn't sleep well and had a horror day yesterday and last night then trying to care for and give attention to my daughter. Your under much much more stress but be positive you will find your balance. Stay strong x

Monnie is it possible to get someone in to help you? I know in NSW there is a free service for those that are struggling. You have to apply and they send someone out for however many hours a week and they help out in your home.

Great idea tadpoles. Monnie, maybe contact your community nurse and centrelink and see if either of them can put you in touch with some support services.
