    Well that's a massive mistake. That's ridiculous.

I know a few people who have had little ones in the NICU there. Wow. I've heard nothing but amazing things about that place. So stupid.

A year today since our little man was sick.

Can't believe it. We are heading out for something special. ☺️

I can't thank anyone enough for all the support from the beginning, the girls in my DIG who I know follow this (I left Because I kept comparing babies and was scared). We still have unknown but I'm feeling stronger and more optimistic! ☺️

With the whole Nicu closing at fmc. I am in favour. The scbu will still be open at other hospitals but they want to keep the surgeons for nicu babies on one site to minimilise times for surgery. When a surgeon gets a call out at 3am, it is best to be on the one site then transversing adelaide for surgery times. When the babies graduate from nicu to scbu they will transfer back to their local hospitals.

It's not just about surgeons. It's about everything. It's about travel costs. I couldn't afford to stay near the city there is no accommodation. I had my own room for my daughter & son. So I could feed or express. As did many of my friends. I don't drive so I couldn't travel backwards and forwards with three bus's to the city all time to see my daughter?

We are such a small state yet we are growing rapidly. We need three NICU's. Not one super NICU that doesn't have MORE beds........ 😳 oh and also lots of doctors don't have same working rights to work at other hospitals (contracts). Our doctor works Ashford & FMC. When our doctor couldn't work due to sleep etc his team helped us unconditionally.

I don't think Adelaide is big enough that surgeons having to drive between hospitals is a huge deal most of the time.

And that logic only makes sense if all surgeons live closer to WCH anyway. As Monnie said, the imposition on struggling families is a factor that should be given weight as well. I had my son at WCH and I wouldn't want anything to be adding to the patient load there. They were run off their feet.

And Monnie, well done to all of you on making it through the year. I remember the OP as if it were yesterday. I know it's a long road yet, but if you reflect on what you were facing I hope you can see how far you've come :-)

    We had another app yesterday!

Hugo is 14.5 kgs 12.5 months. We got told he may be delayed due to his weight? :/

We have physio review next week. His gait is a bit wide while standing.

Also vomiting on certain foods. So we aren't sure if it's stomach related or intolerance. He is advanced for his age apparently. He is already counting to five, singing row row your boat. Mum, dad, cat, dog, no, car, milk, yes, no, thank you not ta. Banana.

He still hasn't had his one year vaccinations im getting anxiety about it. He's had constant chest infections due to food down wrong way. He LOVES childcare
