Default Budget Direct Insurance / Home and Contents Insurance

Does anyone use Budget Direct insurance? How do you find them? Have you ever had to make a claim? If so was it an easy process?

If anyone is willing to divulge, how much do you pay for your Home and Contents insurance?

Our home and contents insurance is currently with RACQ and has just gone up to nearly $200 a month!! I'm shopping around to see if there is anything cheaper. Budget Direct came in at nearly half that price but I don't want to move if they get a bad wrap from customers.

Such an exciting topic for Saturday night!!

From what I read online when shopping for car insurance they are awful and cheap for a reason. So many reviews saying there were hidden clauses, refused to payout, got blamed for accidents so they didn't have to payout and a lot of people who were hit by budget direct insured cars waiting ages for a payout. Product review online has a lot of reviews.

I'm with CGU and our home & contents insurance is only $85 per month! So yeah that seems excessive. I have a brother in law in insurance so that's how we ended up with them. I actually got prices on car insurance (we have several cars) and Budget was one of the dearer ones! We are with Shannon's and they have been fantastic, I've had two accidents in 12 months (neither my fault, I wasn't even in the car for one of them!) and they have paid out quickly, and don't usually have to wait long on the phone either

Their home insurance product is almost identical to Suncorp's. Read the product disclosure statement in full, as with all insurances limits apply & it may not be what you want. Budget do not cover flood, this is one reason why their premiums are lower. They also don't insure above the Tropic of Capricorn.

The claims process is the same as any other insurer. Check out their FB page.

We use them and have made 2 extremely easy and hassle free claims!

We changed from them a few years ago to go with a cheaper deal and had terrible experiences!! Came back with them a year ago and are currently in the process of another easy smooth, claim. We have all our policies with them and not all were for content but all were super easy.

Our current claim was made, we got a quote from who WE wanted our car fixed by and 24 hours later we were approved to be fixed. I'm surprised people have had such bad experiences. I can't fault them. SO happy!!

This will rule them out though as we are in a higher risk area for floods. Houses just a couple of blocks away went completely under during the 2011 floods. We weren't flood affected at all but our premiums have increased by about 50% since the floods (and it seems will increase more now).

    Thanks peeps!!

I have my car insurance with them and have made a claim in the past. I found them fantastic to deal with and they were always keeping me updated. Better than claims I have had through other insurance companies.

We changed to BD this year for H&C as Suncorp nearly doubled our premiums. We've had no claims but we're the same postcode as Bundaberg so it seems we are lumped in with flood premiums. We don't flood (Bundaberg would be gone off the map if we flooded) so I opted to not have flood insurance ... premiums are around the $150 pm.

Do you have a mortgage? You can usually get cheaper deals through your bank as part of your mortgage package.
