Default Monash IVF Fertility Specialist Recomendations

I have a referral to see a fertility specialist at Monash IVF. My closest locations are Clayton and Brighton (Richmond is 3rd choice). For those of you who have been through this, how did you choose your doctor? I have a generic referral and am starting from scratch. Here's my short list:
    - Assoc Prof Beverley Vollenhoven
    - Assoc Prof Luk Rombauts
    - Dr Philip Thomas
    - Dr Nicole Hope
    - Dr Lynn Burmeister

I came up with a short list based on their profile/photo as to who I think I'd feel comfortable with and if their qualifications seemed good (?!)
How did you choose? Have you seen any of the above specialists? Did you feel more comfortable with a female doctor? It's such a daunting task! Any comments are appreciated

Sorry I can't help with your list. I saw a different Monash specialist:

He was lovely and straight to the point.

    Hi

Luk rombauts is our fs and we are very happy with him.
We got pregnant first ivf/icsi cycle under his care and I am now pregnant again after a fet
Nick did my embryo transfer and he was nice and more sociable.
Luk is not an emotionally invested type of dr, he is straight to the point and very good at what he does which is what I needed. Hes a professor and has a very good background. Have a read up on his website.... oh and he works from clayton and Richmond also
Good luck with your journey whatever you choose

Associate Prof Peter Lutjen is excellent and i highly recommend him and his ivf nurses danielle and corrine. He was the medical director of monash ivf when we did ivf in 2012. He is kind and compassionate and i will always be greatful to him for helping us achieve our beautiful Ds.
His consulting rooms were originally in brighton but he then moved to bigger premises in cheltenham. But all treatment is done at clayton.
    Good luck with your search
    and ur ivf journey x

Thank you all for your responses ladies I'm really struggling with who to choose. I seem to keep hearing positive things about Luk Rombauts but you've all given me more options to consider What was the wait time for you ladies to get in for your first appointment?

And another general question for all- what do they do in your first appointment? We've been TTC for 12 months. DH has been tested and all results were better than average. I'm not sure if I'm ovulating because my temp charts are all over the place and I'm beginning to get random positives (or no positive) on digital OPKs. Given this, I'm guessing the first appointment will involve a bunch of blood tests and an internal exam... Does that sound about right?

I went with lynn burmeister and couldn't be happier, she is very pro-active and thorough! Be warned she is very straight to the point and business like, but for me she is a miracle worker. Best of luck

Hilarious! It seems they are all very straight to the point hey?! Lynn Burmeister was another one I've heard good things about before. Can I ask, did you have to have a referral with a particular specialists name on it? My GP has just given me a generic appointment to Monash IVF. Also frogpossum, how long was the wait to see Lynn?

frogpossum- I'm guessing that means you've been successful?! Hope so! How long have you been seeing her for? And was it recent?

Another vote for Lynn. She really knows her stuff and doesn't waste any time (from a treatment perspective), my wife and I are under her through Clayton, currently 5 weeks pregnant after our first cycle and can't speak more highly of all staff we have encountered over our journey at Monash.
