Default What can I take for nasal congestion while pregnant?

What is safe to take during pregnancy to clear nasal congestion? I have either a mild cold or hayfever, but my nose is really congested & it's making it hard to breathe.

Can I use stuff like vapour rub?

I don't think you can use vapour rub, my GP recommended FESS nasal spray, it's just salt water basically. I pretty sure it's about the only thing you can use other than steam.

I had terrible nasal congestion throughout my pregnancy (it's a common pregnancy symptom) hope you feel better soon.

I used a saline nasal rinse and did it while in the shower.

I use fess nasal spray. I get sinus all the time but this helps heaps. There is another one you can have in pregnancy but I can't remember the name. Your pharmacist can point you in the right direction

Thanks everyone I'll go to the chemist tomorrow & ask about fess or similar.

Hopefully it clears up soon, it's very annoying!

I don't know how well they work but you can use the breath nose strips that you stick on your nose. I tried them and I can't decide if they helped or not.

I had an awful head hold when pregnant and accidentally had too much wasabi one night. Cleared my head so well I now (when not preg) use that as a first stop
