    Default Shopping centre vent.

I get really sick and tired of people harassing me to ''donate'' and sign up for things in shopping centres... if it's not a baby photography mob, then it's surf lifesavers, the blind assoc, the deaf assoc, cancer fund, adopt a child, those hand cream & nails organisations, make up etc etc. I am sick of feeling bad for just ignoring and saying no.

I was at a shopping centre a few days ago and 4 times I got asked to do the whole ''it's only $7 for a baby photo''' thing. No, it's not. there is always a catch. I've been sucked in once and never again. I find the smaller shopping centres are not any better. aargh. wish they would go away. If I had to donate to everyone I'd be dead broke. I come to the shops for a bit of time out and shopping for stuff I need not to continuously get badgered.

If people are badgering you, please complain to centre management. In my experience they take it very seriously as they do not want temporary stall holders driving away shoppers.

Honestly, at our local shopping centre which is medium size, I find the Gotcha Photography the worst. How many times does a person need to say no? you walk past and refuse, and on the other side there are more of them waiting to bug you when you walk past again to go back the other way... (the only other way back..). They will annoy you even when your baby is obviously asleep too... as if anyone will wake a baby for a overpriced photo shoot?!

AGREED! I try an dodge them but they always get me! I just say 'no thanks' and keep on walking. 'Derail alert' - you know what ****s me more?! Door knockers!!! Every couple of days at my house! I've lived here for 4 years and have FINALLY put a sign up. So far so good.

Whenever I see them I walk past as fast and as far away as possible, avoiding eye contact.

If they say "hi, how are you today" I just say "good thanks" as I keep walking off quickly. They don't tend to stray far from their post, so the quicker you can get out of their way, the better!

I really don't appreciate being stopped or harassed, so I can relate OP.

I got abused once by a lady wanting donations for a children's hospital. She called out and I was about to tell her I didn't have much time as DH and the kids were out in the car waiting for me and that I would come back, well I got as far as I was short on time and she let lose going off at me for her not getting any donations that day and that she would expect more being in a coal mining town considering how much the average wage is and all she had got all day was excuses from a uptight miners wives. Needless to say I didn't go back

I once got stopped by make a wish, which I think is a great organization so I was happy to make a $20 one off donation as it's all I could afford at the time.
They proceeded to tell me they don't accept one off donations and the minimum I could do was sign up for a direct deposit of $30 per month. What the?! When did charities become so damn picky.
