Default Dr Ann Lewis - GP OB at Mercy Mount Lawley

    Hi everyone,

    My first time posting here!

Just wondering if anyone has any experiences with Dr Ann Lewis from Mead Medical Group / Hills Obstetrics?

She has only just moved here from the wheatbelt and delivers at Mercy in Mount Lawley which is where we will be delivering when UTD.

    Thank you!

I've been to Mercy but didn't have her as an OB.

    Mercy is great though.

Hi sorry joining this thread a little late... I've just joined with Dr Lewis to deliver at Mercy... Anyone have any recent feedback?

I know she's just moved from the country, and is looking to set up offices in Mt Lawley so I'm thinking she will soon be very busy!!

the only downsides I have experienced so far from my first appointment with her, compared to my first delivered by Dr Armstrong, is having to visit her at a busy doctors surgery :/ Our first appointment we waited over an hour and a half to see her, and the waiting room was filled with coughing sick kids, so that's a bit of a concern as I'd hate to pick up bugs each time I visit her!!

the support staff seemed a little confused as they asked me who was going to deliver for me at Mercy... So I was a little confused until Dr Lewis assured me she DID deliver privately at Mercy!!

Also she doesn't have a good ultrasound machine in her offices, so I'm going to miss seeing the baby at each appointment like Dr Armstrong would do !!

Downsides aside, she was absolutely LOVELY, she made me feel completely at ease and I loved her casual approach. She is pro vaginal birth, in fact she cannot deliver via c section so would refer you if necessary. She will deliver any time day or night too whereas private doctors tend to avoid certain hours...

and of course the best part are her fees. Having a toddler already and only one income family, money is tighter this time around. I was concerned about laying out for the pregnancy management fee (Dr Armstrongs is $2300) - Dr Lewis charges $150 for initial appointment ($70 back Medicare), $75 subsequent appointments (approx half back Medicare) and a $350 management fee at 28 weeks (half back Medicare).

she charges NO extra for delivery - she will accept whatever your health insurance will pay out.

Anyway, that's my experience after one appointment, hopefully someone else can fill in some more blanks about further care?!

@Budmeister where do you go for your scans if you don't mind me asking?

If you have to have a C section, who would do this at Mercy if Dr Lewis cant? Thank you 😊

No worries!! Dr Lewis gives a referral with a list of places you can go... There is a bulk billing ultrasound place included on there and they will do all scans except the Nuchal 11-13 week scan. I had mine done at Swan Districts and it was also bulk billed which was fantastic!!

she does have a machine but said it's really a 'telling bum from head machine' - although to did hear she has a better one at the kalamunda offices - she works from both forrestfield and kalamunda medical centres.

c-sections she would refer you onto a specialist just for the actual procedure. She would still assist the procedure and do follow ups etc. She mentioned Dr Charles Armstrong does most of hers
