Very strange then Vic park. If you went to local cl and spoke to them then I would say they have told you the wrong info.
I don't know why they would say that to you. Maybe she is wrong and it's your employer that accepted it late then ticked 6 weeks. Maybe last time they had more money who knows!!

I have been reading along. How stressful! I'm having my first baby in September and really hoping payments start on time. Not sure I could go a few months without payments.

Vic, how long did it take before you got confirmation letter in mail after applying? Mine took 3 weeks.

Becca. When you apply at around 28 weeks, wait til you get confirmation letter then ring centerlink and they will tell you what box your employer ticked. Fortnightly and anywhere up to 6 weeks.
I got told twice that's it's got nothing to do with cl being back logged, it's all to do with how they employer has handled it from the beginning. - (accepting it, and ticking 6 week box)

Perhaps 2 weeks... And that was about 2 weeks before bub was born. Then I provided proof of birth within a week and that's when I was told of the centrelink 14 week processing backlog for payments. My employer is large and only pays fortnightly so there shouldn't be any confusion with 2 weeks v 6 weeks...

I will update the thread after I call tomorrow. Perhaps I will be told a totally different story?

I get 14 weeks paid maternity from my employer. I took 6 weeks full pay and the rest half pay. When half pay kicks in is when I need ppl to start: can't pay the bills and mortgage on hubby's wage and my half pay. Unless we eat baked beans for every meal...

In jun 2012 I put in my papers when dd2 was 2wks old (no pre registering) and received confirmation after 3wks that all was well.

I didn't need it to start for another 3mths so maybe that helped. Thankfully we've never depended on CL money to get by. It's all play money.

I was just on the phone to centrelink (was on hold for 27 minutes... No biggie). A lovely chap said a letter had been sent to me that I should get any day now. Ppl has been fully 'processed/approved by centrelink. My employer should have the $$ from centrelink by my nominated start date and it should be paid by my employer in the next employer pay cycle (barring any stuff ups from the employer).

I was stunned... Mentioned the 14 week processing backlog the lady in the centrelink office told me about and he said 'well there is a bit of a backlog but you pre-registered online before bub was born.'

    Totally confused but not complaining...yet

Glad it's on its way. They really do need more training of staff at cl. When was your hub born vicpark?
