Default Paid parental leave - timeframe from approval to payments?

For parents who have recently been granted ppl, what was the time frame from being approved/providing proof of birth - until payment?

I registered online before bub and provided proof of birth when bub was one week old. The lady in the office said there is a 14 week processing time for payments, due to a backlog. If this really is the case I might have to make alternative financial arrangements to get by for a few months.

I registered early, had bub in September, sent the paper work to them before she was 1 week old and wasn't paid until December :/

It also depends on how your work pays you (assuming you're in a company bigger than 15 people and CL are paying your company who then pay you). CL missed my works pay cycle which delayed mine. But they still took 2 months to even process it

ETA they only had a 10 week backlog at that stage too. So slow!

It was less than 2 weeks. Registered before hand, uploaded documents via phone app just after birth and showed proof in Medicare ( when getting Medicare card updated) this was 6 months ago though

I haven't had my baby yet *taps fingers*
But I'm thinking they might be a bit back logged from all the extra applications they'd be getting from the baby bonus ending?
(just opinion, not actual fact) I'm just thinking they're probably dealing with a lot of enquiries and applications. Fingers crossed it doesn't take too long!!

Friends of mine he had it take months. You can call and say you are going through financial hardship, they will "rush" it through.

I've just read this thread and now I'm a little worried. I had no idea it took this long!
What do they expect you to do in the meantime? We will be needing the money to pay our mortgage...I don't know how we would manage!

I did online application in November, had bub late Jan and lodged proof of birth 4 weeks ago thru mobile app. Still no payment, my work hasn't heard anything from Centrelink yet. I called them today but there was a 90 minute wait so I hung up.... 14 weeks is a bloody long time!

Funny how they only took 3 weeks to process the application but they take so long to process the next bit after "proof"
At least they back pay you with a big lump sum but what do you do for money in the meantime. Crazy. I might ring tomoro(Adelaide) to see how far they are behind. Bub due 31st march

I registered online in October (and put down bub's due date, Dec 1), had bub early in November, visited centrelink the week she was born with proof of birth & received first payment on Nov 26. I must have been one of the lucky ones as well, since DD came 3 weeks early & we got the first payment before we'd even reached her due date!
