Now is the time to travel as you don't have the responsibilities that come with kids and house (which is much more than just the cost of a mortgage- insurances, maintenance, etc etc). If you have the chance to travel now, especially for an extended period of time such as a few months, seize the moment- it may never come again. Set a budget for your trip, pop the rest in the best savings account you can find, then go for it. Sure, once you have a house and kids, you can still travel, but do it while you are carefree.

Travel. You have as long as you want to buy a house and much better to travel without a mortgage weighing you down. Travelling to new places opens your mind and brings lots of amazing experiences.

House. Depending on your income you should be able to do both. It's easy to get $10,000 together for a holiday but it takes a bit more effort to get the $80,000 together for a house deposit!

I've done a lot of travel and am now finding it very difficult to save for a house!

If I could do it all again I would buy a house and then travel.

Travel!! This is what we did and I don't regret it for a second!

Don't blow your whole house deposit on your trip just because you have the money though. Traveling on a budget (I've done it single and with a baby) is lots of fun and gives you such unique experiences.

Travel now, settle later. I think once you get a mortgage your motivation for travel and not to mention funds won't be as fruitful as travelling beforehand.
