Default Scooters for older kids; what one to buy?

DS8 will be due for another scooter soon. I'm wanting to invest in a decent one, and one a step up from the cheaper Razor ones; one of the proper ones the "big kids" have.
What do I buy? From where? What's the "in thing"
    Thanks heaps!!

We got a great one from Aldi a few years ago. It's heavy duty and our nearly 6yo loves it!

We got DS7 a micro scooter bullet, it's one wheel front and back which apparently is what the big kids have (so we were told!). He does love it, looks after it and has really found his confidence with it.
