@misti - don't look at the betas! After a few thousand, the doubling time is no longer every 48hrs, it's 72 to 96 hrs!

Try to relax til the next scan. Betas don't tell you much after the initial readings. I had normal doubling rates for all my ectopics...it was only til the ultrasound that they discovered something was wrong. FX

    Hello,
I just got my first BT results today and it was 263 so I'm officially pregnant
I can't actually believe it is real and am very nervous about something going wrong.
Have had a few symptoms so far which helps it to feel real.
Based on Dr Google I think my EDD is Christmas Day

This is my first so it's all new to me and I really have no idea what to do from here or how to go about choosing an Ob.

    Hi again,
Thanks Amandale, it's nice to hear success stories after a scare and thanks to all those who posted about limited symptoms in the early weeks, I never thought I would be so desperate for gut wrenching nausea but god it'd be nice to know the little bean was growing and spewing out loads of hormones! @frenchy81 the betas have definitely turned evil on me, it was only a last minute decision by the FS to get it done. I was thinking of getting a repeat tues just to make sure they are going up & not down but maybe I should give it a miss?
Welcome @Bellydance and congrats, my FS gave me a list of obs to consider so ask them about it when you are next in.

Welcome Bellydance - first time for me too. Re OBs I just looked who practices at the hospital where I want to go, then a bit of googling for reviews/reputation then ring to see if the ones I liked are available (a lot are on leave for xmas) - then finally take into consideration their out of pocket costs as it can vary greatly.

@misti- Hun, IF it makes you feel better and more relaxed over the next few days, do the beta test JUST to make sure it's not going backwards. But like I said, just the doubling time is different once it hits a few thousand. Also a few thousand is where they gauge whether or not they would be able to see the sac, gestational sac and yolk sac(which they did so that's perfect). Has the bleeding stopped/ turned brown???

One piece of advice I was given (I've bleed in all my pregnancies) and that is, if it doesn't get heavier, then don't worry. And by heavier they mean filling pads and how many pads. Think positive thoughts and try not to stress, think of bubs.
@Bellydance - welcome!!! I agree with em's advice, see which hospital you want to go to, do a maternity ward tour (I think elm13 did that?), see if you like their facilities. Then research on the ob and see if would be comfortable with them. Congratulations and here's to a wonderful journey and the most rewarding life altering experience!

Thanks for the welcome ladies. @emski72 Good advice. I hadn't thought about a lot being away in December and I bet they won't exactly be lining up to take on someone who is due Christmas Day!

@misti so sorry to hear about your scare, you must have been terrified! Sending prayers your way that little embie is ok and stays that way. As for symptoms I didn't have any for ages either maybe around 6 weeks my boobs got sore and around 8 weeks I got very tired. Am 9 weeks now and that's still all I've got with very occasional nausea.
@Bellydance congratulations and welcome! Don't worry about it not feeling real and being worried something will happen it's completely normal! I felt guilty for not feeling more excited at the start cause I was so scared! Still having trouble getting my head around there really being a baby in there!! It is real though so enjoy!

afm I had my second scan on Thursday at 8w 5d, everything looked good. Heard the heartbeat (180) and saw bub moving around. Finally starting to believe it and get a little bit excited!!!!
