Thanks ladies. I am one of the few without private insurance so I will be going public. I did a little research on my 2 closest hospitals, one is in Queensland and one in NSW, ad they are a little different in how they work so I guess I will think about which way to go.
@Molros thanks for your reply, scan was great. I couldn't see much but DH saw it well and said it was pretty cool. I was just glad to know there was a heartbeat! Dr didn't say much just that all looked normal and he'll see me in 2 weeks. No photo either

as for flu shot, I'm meant to get one at work too as I'm a nurse but they always ask if you're pregnant first so I thought I couldn't get it. Might ask them though cause I've had it for the last 10 years!

I got the flu shot. They recommend pregnant women get it. In fact it's free for older people, pregnant women and some other category.... I had it last week at work and no problems. When I went to my go he also told me I should have it.

    Nice pic @GStef!
@Willowglen I am going public too.

I won't be getting a flu shot. I used to get them all the time, but last one I had a bit of a skin reaction.

I am undecided about the flu shot but my ob said it was fine if I didn't get it. I've never had it before. All the literature is starting to convince me otherwise though!

I haven't had it in the past but because our immune systems aren't great during pregnancy, were more susceptible to the flu virus (especially heading into winter and I work in a childcare centre). Another reason for me is that it covers the baby for the first six mths as well.
