Default Another car question - child seat anchors

Okay so what do people like better - roof mounted child seat anchors or having them on the back of the seats? Pros and cons?

I like the back of seats, because they cant get in the way there.

I havent seen many with roof mounted but a lot with them on the floor of the boot, which I also dont like as they limit space.

I've had both. Prefer the back of the seat. Hate the ones at the back of the boot.

Thanks everyone :-) we are looking at a few different kinds of cars and the girl of mine liked the CR-V. But the anchors are on the roof and apparently it cuts into the available cargo space. Not to mention they haven't set the new ones up for isofix yet :-(

I think some of the subarus are set up on the roof too - at least they used to be unless they've changed them. I prefer back of seat for mentioned reasons - the roof ones cut into boot space and also make a cargo barrier difficult (I don't know if one can be fitted with the straps there).

I like them anchored to the floor of the boot, directly behind the seats and not completely crossing over the boot like some cars do. Failing that, I'd opt for back of the seat. Although it's a bit of a pita when you need to fold the seats down to put something in and you have anchor points sticking out.

You can get cargo barriers with prefab holes for tether straps.

We scratched the CR-V off our list because of the placement.
Waiting for a call back from mazda re pricing for CX5 and CX9
