Also don't be afraid to say you don't know the answer to something - I'm a science teacher so often get crazy off topic questions, the advice I gave my prac student was to say something like "that's an interesting question and I'm not sure but can you research it tonight and let me know what you find?" Or "that's a good question, let me ask one of the other teachers after class and get back to you next lesson".

What was it about your lesson that you think sucked?

    Thank you ladies :-)

I had an even better day yesterday and seem to be improving each lesson so I'm feeling SO much better. Certainly not enjoying it lol but not dreading it so much I feel sick which is nice :-)

One of the first questions I asked my mentor was what to do or say if one of the students asks me a question I don't know the answer to. My mentor gave me the same advise, although I haven't had to use it yet!

Two weeks down, three to go! Thank you all for your help and advice last week - I was actually ready to give up so thank you for stopping me and helping me through it. I am hugely grateful. It was a couple of the toughest weeks I've ever been through and I'm so relieved I'm past it!

    Hi gamermum

I've been told that from next week I have to teach Year 10 Chemistry :-( The topics I have to cover are:

    Reaction Rates
    Fuels
    Metal Activity
    Alloys

I'm stuggling with the content as well as resources so any assistance or advice you (or anyone else!) can give me would be greatly appreciated!!

The science teachers here will have great stuff but to get you started here's a few links.

Here is a link to DEECD science concept development maps and they represent possible pathways to understandings for students in years prep to 10.
