Default Causes for sore breasts (other than pregnancy)

I'm just wondering what other causes for sore, tender breasts there are other than pregnancy? My breasts have been very sore and tender for the last week or so, which is midway through my cycle and unusual for that time. They are also noticeably bigger. Obviously I'm worried about pregnancy as we'll but I don't think it's likely as I have the copper iud and I'm not late, but my last period was pretty light for what I usually get. I will be doing a test today anyway. I'm not on any hormone contraception but I wonder if it's possible it's related to some sort of hormone problem? I have been pretty emotional lately too. Tia!

I would just say its the rise in progesterone after ovulation. I would always get sore boobs day after o'd. That's one of the ways I knew if had o'd. If it new to you tho, maybe something has just changed with hormones this month.

    Bump

I did a test yesterday which was negative, which I knew it would be anyway. This morning when I woke they were very sore again, and swollen again too. I started googling (bad idea sometimes I know!) but I think I've found my answer, I think it's actually due to the IUD. Copper toxicity can cause estrogen dominance, and a symptom of that is sore swollen breasts and emotional changes, fatigue, water retention, all of which has been getting worse for a few months now, I think the copper has built up in my system the last 2 years. I've been thinking about getting it removed anyway so this is a final push for me

Guess I just answered my own question! Should have googled it first
