I'm a member of ABA. I didn't find them beneficial to me, but nothing worked. I ended up calling up a private lactation consultant who came out to the house. I think keep that Breastfeeding relationship going provided it is not going to cause you unnecessary stress. It's not good for either of you, if you're constantly stressed about expressing.

J, of course you're doing the right thing for you and Lucy by wanting to keep breastfeeding. I am an ABA member and have been to some meetings. It would be good for you to have supportive people to meet up with if you're not getting the support at home.

I really don't understand why people are anti BF. It's free and instant. It's such a shame they can't respect your decision.

I'm finding feeding painful at times though due to Meadow's many teeth rubbing on me. There are times I'd like to stop but mainly for selfish reasons like wanting her to sleep overnight! Which weaning wouldn't guarantee anyway.

I'll be trying to introduce some cow's milk in a sippy cup at 12 months but doubt I'll wean for a while because she loves it and I would feel so mean! It's also a great comforter when she's upset because she's ill or hurt herself, stops her crying instantly. The power of the boob!!!

J - I say each to their own. If you want to continue breastfeeding Lucy then do it as long as you like. It's unfortunate you don't have the support of hubby and family. How are they unsupportive? I didn't join the ABA but I did call the helpline a few times. I hope they can provide the support you need
I was surprised at how long I fed Ava. If I had not been returning to work I still think I would have continued mix feeding but kept up breastfeeding until at least 12 months. I was shattered when she weaned herself completely a couple of weeks ago but look back and I'm pleased I was able to feed her for as long as I could
