I spend a lot of time online with adult adoptees (this was their birth mothers era) and from all reports it is fair representation of what went on during forced adoptions. I know one mother who had her baby taken away purely for being an unwed mother, refuses to watch it as it is too close to home for her.
Oh none of that side of it. I don't mean the historical part at all.

I just thought the start of this year's season was a bit like they had to cover every possible scenario ie, Viv's twins only being discovered as she was giving birth, Patti's baby being still born, and Gail dying after birth.
Of course those things actually happened I'm sure, but it just felt like every episode in the first few weeks had a different drama.
I guess they only have so many episodes per season to fit it all in.

As far as the forced adoptions and unmarried mother's homes etc I'm sure it is very accurate.
It would be very close to home for some people.

I saw a documentary on Bio channel last week about unwed mothers in Ireland in the 50s & 60s. A lot of the babies were adopted out to American families with no choice given to the mothers. Sad & cruel practices in those days!
