    Default Isofix

Does anyone know when Isofix car seats will actually be available here in Australia? I thought it was going to be last year but I haven't heard anymore about it!

I am so keen on getting an isofix car seat! I called Britax the other day and they say that they have a product ready to go, but they aren't allowed to sell it in Australia yet as they are waiting on the ACCC to mandate the standard. They don't know when that will be.

I contacted the ACCC asking them when they would mandate the standard (I have no idea what that means) and they still haven't responded. I hope they will soon!!

I have been chasing this for a while - in early 2013 I spoke to a lady who was responsible for creating the standards of ISOFIX in Australia. She was telling me that the adjustable straps were much easier to use (as opposed to the 'click click' one to the car seat. She said once the standard was approved (which happened in June 2013) the companies would need to adapt their overseas models to the Australian standard, which would take time. I was previously told by people in the industry that they expected them by the end of 2013 (still waiting). Another person said April 2014 (HOPEFULLY) and sales assistant said it wouldn't be until late 2014 at the earliest.

I am hoping I can buy a good car seat that matches our needs by April this year!
