Hi Ann and welcome to the thread. Lovely to hear you are doing well now, what a journey you've had! We currently have our pram on layby and pick it up next month but we have gone for the Bugaboo Cameleon.

Amps- sorry to hear that you haven't been well again but great news that your migraine has gone, hope it stays away. Good luck with your mum but it's definitely a tough one to know what to say without there being an argument, which is not what you need right now. I love my mother dearly but wouldn't want her living here when bub arrives. How exciting about finishing work!

Jay- fantastic job on the nursery! I'm feeling pretty organised, I pretty much have all the big things organised and think I only really have small things like extra dummies, singlets, body suits, swaddles, etc to go but I know they are generally things you get at baby showers so should be ok. I'm planning a visit to target/kmart before bub is born to get nursing singlets and a waterproof mattress protector too (things that have been suggested on this thread).

Kerikiwi- your nursery is beautiful! I love the cot too. We are having a similar theme and picked the wall decal and prints today. Hopefully these links work, thinking about leaving the babies name off the decal though (where they have Adel, as a sample) as it might look a bit cluttered

    https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/1741...ef=favs_view_4

KJ- I hope the swelling eases really soon! I find it really hard to load pics on here too so have only done it a couple of times, wish it was easier!

Arlais- great bargain you got there on the blinds, got to be happy with that and can't wait to see your nursery pics! How exciting having lots of babies around you. I visited a friend's new baby on the weekend and it makes it so much more exciting knowing that will be me soon!

Berra- love that saying, thanks for sharing it!

Bedlover- I'm going to really keep in mind what you said about taking time out to do things together with DH before baby arrives, I think a movie is in order really soon.

AFM: I can't believe how close some of you ladies are getting, I'm so jealous that some have finished work or really close to it. I sit at work all day counting down the days and feeling my little girl kick away.

Ladies, as I said earlier, I haven't got much by way of little bits and pieces, can I have some advice on how many of each I'll need. I have a ton of 3-6mth clothing and some 6-12mth but not so much newborn yet since I have to wait until the winter stock arrives in the shops but so far I have:

    Approx. 20 bibs
3 pairs of socks and about 10 pairs of booties
    6 newborn beanies
    About 6 outfits/suits/night dresses
    Only one dummy
    3 newborn singlets
    2 swaddles
    2 bath towels
    3 face washers
2 knitted shawls and 5 blankets for pram, etc
Cot blanket and about 5 sets of cot sheets
    3 cardigans and 1 jacket
2 or 3 pairs of mittens
8 bottles, bottle warmer and steriliser (but planning to breastfeed)
    Box of 108 newborn nappies

The above is what I have for a newborn (not the bigger singlets, suits, outfits, etc for 3mths plus), I know I need a lot more and will reassess after my shower but does anyone have any suggestions on how much of each of these things I'll need or whether I have enough of some of the things already? Thanks in advance.

Annerley, in my opinion the only thing I would get more of is newborn singlets. Maybe 6-8 all up. I am sure I had days where we went through more than 4 due to spew or poo, and newborns wear singlets 24x7. Most days we used 2 singlets at least. Everything else is pretty easy to cover and it isn't hard to pop to the shops for more clothes.

    You have plenty of blankets.

I agree with Bedlover about more singlet, Annerley but it seems like you have pretty much everything else covered. In my experience people buy clothes when the baby is born so I wouldn't go overboard with those. Plus, depending what size your baby is when it's born will depend on how long you need 0000 or 000 clothes. The thing we bought more of immediately were flannelette wraps. We found the flannette ones 'stayed wrapped' the best and they will be good for winter.

Glad you are feeling better Amps. Giving up work was probably the right decision so you can relax and take it as easy as possible before bubs arrives. You haven't had the best time of it. Hope your mum chills out a bit. Last thing you need to worry about at the moment.
Arlais sounds like you are getting close to finishing your nursery. I was speaking to a work colleague the other day and they are 32 weeks and haven't bought a thing! I guess there is still time but not being organised stresses me out.
Hope you feel better soon KJ. I have the most lovely cankles myself at the moment.
Annerley you sound pretty well set up for bubs. I have 1 outfit , no blankets and 3 boxes of nappies that's it. I am hanging out till my baby shower so I know what I need but it's so hard to wait. A friend promised blankets that she no longer needs and have had lots of comments about giving me handmedowns but haven't been given yet. Trying not to stress that if baby comes early it will be naked and cold!

Currently on holidays but just wanted to pop in and say a big welcome to Ann. So glad for modern medicine which has allowed all our little miracles! So thankful I was born into this generation. Glad you are finally allowing yourself to get excited. Now our babies are moving so much it's a bit hard to keep at the back of your mind!

Amps sorry to hear about another trip to hospital but good to hear you are finished work. Sounds like it's for the best.

Love the themes. We have a monkey/jungle decal but wouldn't really call it a theme. Our nursery is mostly donated so a bit of a mash up.

We were given a Strider by a generous friend. Haven't really tested it out but was so blessed to get a free pram. Prior to that was going to get a Baby Jogger City Select purely based on reviews and testing in store. I don't have anecdotal evidence for one pram being so much better over another and everyone's needs are so different!!

Went to a baby store while here on holidays to get a few things thinking my relaxed state of mind might help. But got completely overwhelmed and left empty handed. I'll work myself up to it eventually!!

Oh I love your nursery Keri.. It's very similar to what we want.. Ordered all the white boori furniture and I'm on the hunt for a beautiful wall decal of a tree too with little birdies.. I'm going to wait though as it depends if we have a boy or girl with colours..

Rtkirk thanks for the Coles sale on nappies.. I'll check it out

Arlais what a win with the blinds.. Can't wait to see nursery pics

Lol Ann.. You cracked me up about Bubs hiding in your butt.. Don't worry move is there too.. Lol We were debating over the strider compact or city select.. But my girlfriend has offered me her bugaboo so I ain't saying no to that! I just hope it fits in my boot!

Amps sorry you're having a rough trot.. Glad you've finished work.. Take it easy.

Annerley love those wall decals.. Will need to get on that website.. Yeah I think you might need a few more singlets.. But otherwise you're pretty set.. I'm waiting for my baby shower before I buy anymore.

Had my OB appointment this morning and told her about the weird movement I had last week.. She saw how worried I was and plus I don't feel it moving a lot so I'm having another scan on Friday for peace of mind.. She seems to think it's just a string of hiccups and doesn't appear worried at all.. Good news is Bubs head is down No longer breech which is great!

Just a quick note to say that I woke up last night with quite bad back pain on my lower right side. No position offered any relief and I began vomiting - not sure if from the pain or another symptom. As we are on hols went to a lovely country hospital that is treating me for a urinary tract infection. Pain has gone but just wanted to share my experience in case any of you have similar symptoms. I've had no 'burning' when urinating but my urine has been darker and I do feel the need to go often even when bladder is empty which I put down to a pregnancy experience. Hoping no one else has to worry!

Well I had an eventful afternoon yesterday. Sitting at my desk working away and started getting painful cramps - felt just like the first day of my period! I tried to ignore it at first, but it didn't go away and I called my Ob's office. I had to wait a little while to get a call back and by then the pain had subsided a fair bit so I was just feeling achy. My Ob's nurse though was a bit concerned when I told her I had a decent amount of discharge a couple of days ago and asked me to come in.

I felt a bit silly going in after just a few minutes of bad cramps and generally just feeling sore, but I didn't actually realise how much pain I was in until my Ob started examining me.

Just laying down was a huge effort and I couldn't believe how painful it was when she started feeling around my belly to find out where the baby was positioned. She felt tightenings and when she examined my cervix, told me that even though it's still closed it's already starting to soften!

I was admitted for a few hours monitoring and my Ob wrote up a plan just in case things progressed and I ended up in full labor. Thankfully everything eased up, I felt better and was allowed to go home.

I'm now listed as a low threshold for admission and have to go straight to hospital if I have any more cramping or bad tightenings. Bub is still determined to be breech and her bum has dropped down low in my pelvis, so my Ob doesn't want to risk me laboring at home.

Even though it's still very early, the plan would be to give me injections to help mature the baby's lungs faster, then get her out via c-section, rather than try to stop labor at this point. I'm praying that she still stays put for at least a couple more weeks yet - I still have 3 days of work left, so much stuff to prepare at home still, and she doesn't even have any clothes yet!
