    Default Next gen fertility

I am considering changing Fert clinics due to a mistake made by my current clinic, anyone currently going through IVF at next gen can you tell me if scans and bloods cost extra during the IVF stim cycle
Also I have a fee schedule for prices but it doesn't say anything about Medicare rebate for when you go over the Medicare safety net do you get extra back from Medicare when you go over that or is next gen different to the public clinic in ur rebate

    Hi,

We went with Next gen for our DS. They were wonderful. Scans and bloods are included in the IVF costings. The only time I paid for a blood test was to do a test for ovarian reserve before I started IVF again for baby #2.

I am not very good with medicare costs etc. My understanding is that the rebate for medicare claims is capped with IVF regardless of which clinic you go to... but I could be wrong. Perhaps just ring next gen. They were always very upfront about those kinds of things.

    Good luck.

I am currently 18wks pregnant with bub #2 after 3 cycles with Next Generation. They were amazing, absolutely lovely to deal with and made it all as easy as it could be. My Dr was Peter Benny and he's excellent - very caring and happy to spend time talking through any questions. Both he and Dr McDonald sit on the examination board for fertility specialists so you know the expertise is there. For my 3 collections I had Dr McDonald, Dr Benny and Dr Matthews so I got to try all of them out lol! I think my ovaries like to bleed so I had quite a lot of pain after collections but I'd say Dr Matthews' collection was the least painful - she said she'd used a smaller needle because she knew I get pain

We did 2 stim cycles using PICSI (our issues are mostly related to sperm quality) which cost approx $7500 each and our 3rd cycle was also a stim with PICSI but with slightly different meds and also used PolScope which was a little over $8000 altogether. We got $6k back each time.

If you go to the Parramatta clinic just make sure you allow enough time to find parking and walk to the office, sometimes you have to park waaaay down the road!

Dr Matthews is lovely. She was our FS and I cannot recommend her enough. She has a great positive and proactive manner to her but also takes the time to see if you are okay when things get rough.

The PP who mentioned parking at Parramatta is correct it can take a bit to get a park close by so get there early just in case.

The clinic staff are lovely though especially the nurses. Very quick to return calls and BT results (especially for the final pregnancy BT). One of my favourite nurses was so excited to call me back when we finally got a positive. Just lovely.

Good luck. Its a hard slog but so worth it!

My appointment couldn't have gone any better she made me feel so comfortable and wzplainwd everything perfectly
She has done my next stim cycle exactly as I thought it should have been done with close monitoring I'm so so happy after what happened at my last clinic I was so scared of doing another stim cycle and going through the pain
But she's made me feel so relaxed about it all, yes it will a fair bit extra as we don't have private health and my last clinic was at a public hospital so it was very little out of pocket but it's true what they so u get what u pay for, I'm happy to pay the extra knowing I'm in good hands I start jabbing on the 27th she thinks freeze all this cycle as I over stim very easily I hope by being more relaxed I get my BFP sooner rather than later
Thank u all so much for the advice you have all been spot on about her

I'm glad it went well! The nurses & scientists are amazing, you'll feel really comfortable there. And Castle Hill Day Surgery is great too, I've had a few procedures there for IVF and other stuff as well, they've always been very good there.

Good luck and fingers crossed! Make sure you update us.

Default Highly recommend Dr Peter Benny

I put IVF off for so many years as I was too scared. Finally after a recommendation from a friend about Next Generation Fertility I went in, however I backed out after my first consultation with Janelle McDonald. I saw the dummy syringe and freaked out. My husband was so annoyed with me for chickening out. It just didnt feel right though, I still wasnt ready! Then a few months later I plucked up the courage and booked again, but Janelle had left! I thought it was a sign to not go ahead, but I was suggested I could see Dr Peter Benny instead. I went in for that appointment, pretty reluctantly - thinking I would back out again. Thankfully I did not. Dr Benny also sensed that I was fearful and really helped allay my fears. He is awesome. Prior to him, Id not had a male doctor before either.
Thankfully our first transfer was successful!! Dr Benny did the transfer so quickly and I didnt feel a thing. I was actually more worried about the transfer being awake!
Dr Kim Matthews did my egg collection. I had very little pain afterwards and no bleeding. She was so lovely too and caring, it really helped. I was so nervous on the day of collection. The nurses who helped me with the whole process as well as the nurses before and after collection were excellent. I have honestly never experienced such professional and genuine care. For all the horrible people and places out there, Next Gen makes up for them - all the staff, the scientists, the reception admin ladies - could not be flawed.

That's great AN76, glad to hear you had a positive experience with Next Gen. I've never had Dr Benny but have a friend who has 2 children thanks to him. Dr Matthews was my FS, I now pregnant with my 3rd child (after 5 rounds of FETS this time round). All 3 pregnancies have been thanks to the care of Next Generation they are wonderful.

They are just the best. I went to Next Gen after going to two other well known Sydney clinics. I was feeling really disheartened with the whole assisted fertility process. I had spent over 18mths feeling like just a number at the other clinics, where no one actually knew who I was, or really even really cared about my feelings. After a miscarriage I was meant to have an appointment with my FS anyway I wasn't told it wouldn't be him seeing me but someone else , she just walked in said we are doing this.... And when I cried she said to me, "why are you crying" I said the miscarriage was still really raw for me and I was finding everything overwhelming.. Her response "well you're better off than some other girls here" that was it, I left and never went back.
I saw Dr Matthews two months later and In my first appointment with her she made me feel more valued, cared about and listened to than I had ever felt on my journey to motherhood. She even called me herself with blood test results and a plan of action after that first appointment. About 8 weeks later I got the call to say I was pregnant. That was almost 4 yrs ago.
I'm seeing Kim again for #2 although this time we have needed to use ICSI (last was OI) Kim did my egg pick up on Monday and she has the most beautiful bedside manner, she holds your hand as things are about to start and just really cares about you.
The nurses are fantastic and caring and really go out of their way to help you.
I can't speak highly enough of the Next Gen clinic and I'll always hold a special spot in my heart for Dr Matthews.
