    Default Adoption success stories

Hi I am considering adoption... We looked into it last year and decided it was all too hard but now we are looking at overseas adoption. Does anyone have success stories about quick placements of a 1 year old max? We are thinking Thailand or Indonesia. Can anyone advise us about the rules re fertility treatment I know they say you should stop but do they check? I maybe have another year of treatments and then we are done but I want to get the ball rolling.

Hi there . You will need to check the rules for adoption within your home state and then research what countries are available for you to adopt from. No quick placements in intercountry adoption , it can take up to 7 years in some cases. I don't mean to discourage you but it's not an "easy" option . Like fertility - there are no guarantees with adoption . They don't like people continuing fertility treatment at the same time and will discuss at length with you about that. Start doing some research and be prepared for a long wait !

    Hi Nattie

Check with the Department of Community Services. My partner and I are going through the process in Queensland - we have taken a year so far for the assessment process. We are nearly finished the assessment process and if we get through that we then will need to wait until we are matched. We understand that it can be quite sometime for overseas adoption and there are only certain countries who have open programs with Aus.

    Cheers
