Default *trigger warning- distressing* Father kills son and is shot by police.

I cannot get my head around this and cannot even imagine what the mother is going through. I have to say, I admire her compassion and honesty.

I don't know how one moves on from something like this. It's just tragic. And all those poor kids who witnessed it. Just horrific, the whole thing

I read this today and just feel so dead inside constantly reading of fathers killing their children, sometimes it feels like a terrifying epidemic.

Case after case after case lately.

Often the motive is to have the final say with the mother, the need to seek revenge against the mother hugely outweighs the love they have for the child.

Sorry if I have gone off on a tangent, it really has been happening so much lately, it makes me feel so afraid.

My heart goes out to that little boy, how horrifying and his mother, it so very cruel.

Edited to say I know mental health issues seem to be the problem here, mostly I was talking generally.

I think it all comes down to needing stronger laws around family violence and a better mental health system.

That poor beautiful little boy and his mother. My heart aches for them both. I hope she can someday find peace but I just don't know how you move on from that. I don't think id want to live after watching my child be brutally murdered.

As for the father, it's a shame they shot him. He should have had to rot in jail for the rest of his life, having to live with the fact that he killed his own child, that is worse than death.

She said the father was mentally ill. I don't know the situation or condone his actions of course but it's hard to feel no empathy for the man if this is the case. Something was obviously really not right with him. I feel so sad that his son paid the price though. Just awful.

I can't comprehend how someone could (presumably) go from overwhelming love for their own child to willingly killing them, regardless of motive. It's chilling and frankly I don't want to understand.
I hope that the mother and the boy's friends/witnesses take some comfort in the outpouring of grief that is being shown.
