sorry all i can suggest is try googling. but keep in mind that as always on the internet there are extreme things as well as the normal. so dont freak out too much about it.
    or talk to dr.

Thanks alot for the info ladies.

He's not doing so bad today. Apparently he has been told that drinking milk helps all the nausea.

So i hope that helps somehow.

His workplace told him if he wanted a proper mask that he would have to pay for it out of his wages...

Wonder what OH & S would say bout that

My dp is a welder as well, he's doesn't know much about the poisoning, he just said to drink milk every hour, it lines the stomach to stop the poisoning going to far.

His workplace told him if he wanted a proper mask that he would have to pay for it out of his wages...

As for this comment from his workplcae, they are sooooo in breach of workplace health and safety it's not funny, they are required by law to supply all personal proctective equipment to their staff, so that would include his mask. DP also seems to think that they should be supplying his milk to drink as well. What are the chances of that if they won't even supply him with a mask?
Hope he is feeling better soon.

I found this on the net - it is issued by cigweld in relation to one of their welding products:
Exposure to welding fumes of zinc oxides may result in discomfort such as dizziness, nausea, aching muscles, dryness or irritation of the nose, throat and eyes and vomiting.
    Ventilation
Use enough ventilation and local exhaust to keep fume below the relevant exposure standards in the worker’s breathing zone and the general area. The welder should be trained to keep his head out of the fumes.

    Respiratory Protection
Use a fume respirator or air supplied respirator when welding in a confined space or where local exhaust or ventilation does not keep exposure below the relevant exposure standards. Refer AS/NZS 1715 and AS/NZS 1716.
