    Hi ladies.

I have done 3 cycles at the Fertility Centre in Springwood and just had my bub. How does MYIVF do egg pick ups? The whole being awake is an awfully painful procedure for me as the pain killers don't seem to kick in until long after its over so I feel it all.

We are hopefully starting our cycle in July! Got a few other health issues that may affect the start date so hopefully it will all work out!!

    Hi lovely people.

Our first visit to MyIVF Clinic at North Lakes was with Sue back in April. Due to our infertility factors, and the need for further testing, it looks as though we will be starting our cycle in July.

Firstly, the doctors and nurses we've seen to date have been lovely. Almost always running late by 30 to 40 minutes, but very nice people.

Overall the experience to date has been good, and from personal experience, the price difference between QFG and MyIVF Clinic is about $5,000-$6,000 (after rebates from Medicare and private health insurance), which is significant.

However, on the downside: as someone else mentioned, because the clinic is new, paperwork and office organisation is lacking, which can be frustrating. First example: we have now been asked to confirm all of our details three times, because our paperwork hasn't been transferred to MyIVF's systems properly.

Also, during our last visit, there was an issue with MyIVF Clinic's Medicare infrastructure so we weren't able to be provided with a receipt for our payment, and once we had been provided with the receipt, we were asked to wait until a certain date to make a claim. Whilst this wasn't a big deal, I felt it was presumptuous and unprofessional on MyIVF's part, and could cause issues if you were struggling financially.

Also, you need to fit in with MyIVF's cycle dates. MyIVF only has doctors available to do egg retrieval and embryo transfers on certain dates: egg retrieval is from 19th-21st every month and embryo transfer is from 24th-26th every month (or thereabouts). This means that if your normal period cycle doesn't align with MyIVF's doctor dates, you have to wait another month.

This wasn't explained to my husband and I when we signed up with MyIVF. Again, this isn't a big deal, but it would have been better if it had been clearly explained upfront.

This could also cause issues going forward, because you won't be able to do 'back to back' cycles (even though Sue and Dr Purser specifically stated that we could do 'back to back' cycles) if you need a second round of egg retrieval.

For eg: start the OCP, continue for 14 days. Stop taking OCP on 3rd of May. Withdrawal bleed, then hormone injections for 14 days from 8th of May. Egg retrieval on 20th of May, embryo transfer on 25th of May. Then the two week wait to see if successful, takes you to 8th of June. That means you wouldn't be able to pursue a second cycle of egg retrieval in June, because you wouldn't fall within MyIVF's available dates for egg retrieval in that month.

If you had frozen embryos remaining from the previous month, you would be able to do a second embryo transfer in June. So this would only be an issue if you had to pursue a second egg retrieval. Again - this isn't a massive issue, but could have been better explained upfront.

In summary, for the price difference between QFG and MyIVF Clinic, my husband and I decided it was worth trying MyIVF Clinic, even though they are less flexible with dates and are somewhat less organised than QFG.

I just want to emphasise, I'm not trying to be overly critical of MyIVF Clinic, but merely provide some honest feedback. Let's be honest: they are providing us with hope, at a much more reasonable price than most other providers, and for that alone should be viewed well!

Good luck to everyone, here's hoping we all get the results we're aiming for!

We start our first round with them in August. Doctor wants me to have a months break as I've just done 2 back to back cycles with QFG. It's a bit of travel time for us, 90 min to 2 hours each way, depending on traffic, but with the massive price difference, we feel it's worth it. Dr Chenoweth was great, my hubby liked him far more than our last FS. He only wants to do 2 rounds with us, as my age is the only problem we have, and he's very honest about not wanting us to throw $ after $ on ivf. Very refreshing as we were starting to feel at our old FS it was all about him making money. Fingers crossed we get a good egg, I will be on a much lower dose at stims this time, but he is trying a different drug, I'm not a good responder, but it only takes 1.
I suggest anyone, who money is becoming an issue for, try them out. Sue the nurse is wonderful, and we have had no complaints about them so far.

I was dreading the egg collection but other than the Iv going in I did not feel a thing. we collected 9 eggs from a total of 12 folicals of the 12 3 were only small . At this stage all 9 have fertilized and waiting till Monday for egg transfer here's hoping we have at least 1 that makes it.

How did everything go? I am starting my first cycle with them next month.

Hi there, we've just started a cycle, and so far so good. Again, some communication and paperwork issues, but for the significantly reduced price, we're quite happy. We're hopeful that we'll have a good result soon. Good luck everyone!
