    Default Potty training

Anyone started potty training and if so, how did you do it?

You can't potty train so young (this is in the 3-6 month section) do you mean elimination communication?

We didn't do proper EC, but we did put DD on the potty after every nap time from about 6 months and she always went. We also always put here there if she was about to poo.

As I said, not proper EC, but she very quickly learned what the potty was for, and it made things easier when we did TT properly at 18 months.

I think EC is a great idea as long as there's no pressure on bub and you're not too worried about a bit of mess.

Same as above. We did EC part-time from about 6 weeks, and by a schedule as bub never gave us cues as to when he needed to go. We put him on the loo/potty soon after waking in the morning, after breakfast, before the evening shower, and if it is obvious he is about to do a poo. Then I also take him if I'm going and he hasn't peed his pants for a while - he wears cotton training pants at home. He's now 1.5yrs and still learning. Worth a go at this age (3-6 months) if like PP said there's no pressure/stress on bub... and if you don't mind pee on the floor now and then.

I tried but didn't get very far, all I really achieved was familiarising DS with the potty. As previous posters have said - I just couldn't tell when DS was going to go. I was lucky if I caught a wee

He's now 18 months and not TT at all but sits on the potty and isn't scared of it. We are about to start training as he shows signs I can easily see/read now.

A great book to read is 'early-start potty training' by Linda Sonna. Lots of information and tips, including from birth onwards.

    Good luck!

We did part time EC from birth. Was great. Then potty trained at 19 months.
