Default Vent: someone switched off our power

Some idiot switched off our electricity early this morning! DF left for work around 4am and it was still on but when I woke up around 6 it was off. I know our bill is up to date & we hadn't gotten a notice about scheduled works so I checked the fuse box and someone had switched our mains switch off.

Easily solved but 1) what a stupid and potentially dangerous prank to pull and 2) I hate the idea that someone is lurking around our house while I'm here alone with the kids.

Are you sure an appliance hasn't tripped it? Or is that a different switch?

My safety switch tripped the other night when the kids knocked a fan over. It wasn't even on but in at the wall.
Only my pints went out though not the lights.
Sometimes a power surge to one appliance can do it. Was anything running at the time? Aircon?

Yup, just did a google on the switch that was off & it was the safety switch.

Still weirded out that it went off while DF was gone and I was asleep. Does anyone know what could trip it in an inactive house?

ETA: don't think it was any appliances as DF goes from bed to shower to car & nothing was left on overnight

Fridge? Just a power surge to something might do it?
Not long after I moved here one side of the house lights went out! There's two safety switches for the lights and for no reason it tripped. Weirdest thing and never happened again.

Does he have a cuppa? Our kettle has tripped it before?

Sometimes when two appliances are going it can set ours off. Our kettle and the iron seems to do it. Did he make a coffee and have the iron on to iron his shirt?
